New Yorkers cross border shop also. They cross into NJ ( ie Jersey City, etc ) to shop for clothes. Gotta love NJ no sales tax!

I was at my parents' house watching the Survivor premiere and came home to multiple fire trucks, police cars, and an ambulance blocking the way into my apartments. There was a garage fire in a condo next door. I had to go back to my parents' to park my car, and my dad had to come drop me off. He'll pick me up tomorrow before work to go get my car. Wasn't expecting that.

I love a crazy windy night! It’s like a white noise machine joining the two (somethings three) fans we have going every night.

That brings back nightmares hiding with my GF in our walk in closet which is the safer place to ride out a Cat 3 a number of times , late night. The wind, stuff crashing into the sides of the home and feeling like the roof lifting off which parts of it did . The calm before the storm was ideal weather then late night the fury came but at 4am all of us neighbors went outside to the streets to check on each other and surveyed the damage. Then later the clean up and protect our homes from the bad element.

I’d like to add NJ has real diners, pizza, bagels , delis , Asian food and Italian bakeries. One doesn’t realize this until they move out of NJ. Montreal , Toronto , Vancouver does have incredible bagels and Asian, Arabic cuisine too.

I had the same wind storm last night up here in MA, as @FutureCEO. That wind was something, but nothing like your Cat 3 hurricane.

Lightning I don’t have issues , but strong howling wind just brings back bad memories. The incredible aspect of being weather forecaster is that our county was alerted in advance when the eye would come close to us give or take 5 minutes. From 200-230am is when it passed over us which was an exact call by the weather teams.

I saw it more today. The entire front of the garage is burnt, and there were two vehicles inside. One looks like a trucky that was backed in and had the whole front melted. The other looked like a van or SUV type vehicle. The entire back half was melted off.
