Raccoons are an absolute menace around here.
I forget how much it cost us this summer. $300-400 I think, because I could hear raccoons on the neighbour’s side of the attic. They couldn’t be heard in our attic, and our openings to the outside were sealed up tight, but because there was a minuscule gap in the block wall separation between the two attics, we had to be inspected also.
Mike had to come home from the trailer, empty the closet, unseal the attic hatch, and then reseal the hatch and put the clothes back. Then I had to come home and totally rearrange the clothes.
Long story short, nothing on our side. Evidence of a full family with babies in the neighbour’s attic. Gap between attics sealed. Neighbours paid a whole heck of a lot more than we did, because they had to clean up the droppings, sanitize, blah, blah, blah.
(This is what happens when you’re still up at 5:00 am and can hear the babies crying next door because mommy and daddy have gone garbage bin marauding, and you tell the neighbours they’ve got raccoons.
)
Mike even pointed out to them how the raccoons got in because it was clearly visible from the street.

I would never feed one. Cute to look at it, but that’s where the fun ends.
