As @ajrwdwgirl suggested, I was able to borrow the (Guardians) DVD from my local library, the other day. My review, promised to NYwdwfan:

Watched the Guardians (1st movie in the series), and I wasn't a fan. Not knowing any of the storyline before I watched the movie, I thought the storyline was very disjointed and hard to follow. Also, the film relied heavily on the continual (redundant) fighting scenes, and there was little time to attempt to even figure out why one group was fighting another--before they started fighting yet another group. 🤷‍♀️

All I could follow in the movie was that the main character was trying to protect an orb, from other groups stealing it.

Pros to the film:

I really liked all the songs they selected.

I liked Groot and Rocket. Groot was a uniquely designed character, with a limited vocabulary. Rocket had some really funny lines.

Fyi:
(The other day, I signed out both the first and second Guardians movies from the library; but I doubt I'll watch the 2nd one, since I didn't care for the first one.)
It's ok . We still think you are awesome 😁

I loved the first Guardians film, and didn't like the second one much (if at all). So I support your decision.
Requoting ….

My elderly missionary Auntie and I saw both of them at the theatre on the big screen. We enjoyed them, but like you, I could do with fewer, less protracted fight scenes. (I feel that way about Star Wars battle scenes too, so what do I know?)
If you don't care for extended fight scenes, I cannot recommend you see the new Thor movie.

I liked all the prior Thor movies (even Dark World, which is regularly ranked near the bottom of the MCU), loved Ragnarok, and left Love & Thunder saying "there's two hours I'll never get back".

TBH, all those types of (super hero? not sure the exact classification) movies, I can't really relate to. But since WDW introduced the new Guardians attraction, I wanted to just get an idea of the backstory to it. (Similar to back when Pandora - The World of Avatar opened up at AK in WDW, I saw the movie, Pandora, prior to visiting the new attractions. That was 4 years ago for me.)

I still.haven't seen Avatar, the Pandora movie. No desire to, really, and the trailer for the sequel isn't doing anything for me, either.

I watched avatar because of Pandora in Animal Kingdom. I wanted to be aware of the story since it was in a whole new land. I didn’t really like the movie and didn’t dislike it either, it was just slightly entertaining. I will probably watch the sequels since there is an off chance they could update the land with references (although probably not). When we have seen the previews for it in the theaters I always say Sivako to my husband. The new movie looks like it could be part of the ride, maybe they should have it play at Flights if Passage for awhile and you could watch on the back of a banshee!

I tried to watch it. Nothing was on TV and the Mets were playing in an hour so I gave it an hour. I was checking my watch around 17 minutes. I found it painfully boring.
I had to psych myself up, in order to sit through it. So, I picked a day when there was nothing else to distract me, so I had no excuse not to watch it through. Gave it some credit for creativity, although I wasn't really all that interested in the story. Again, it was just to get a brief idea about that new section of AK, before going there to see it. (Without some of that background, I think I would have been "lost" trying to figure out the attractions there.)

There are so many movies, both live action and animated, that are represented or have been represented in WDW that I have never seen. For example Peter Pan, or 20000 leagues or Toy Story and only one Star Wars which I slept through that I had to go to with my grandson because I lost a bet or It's a Bugs Life or Nemo or Honey I Shrunk the Kids or Swiss Family Robinson or Pandora or Lion King plus all but two of the movies in GMR and probably others, but I still enjoyed the attractions and never felt the need to see the movies.

I watched Avatar when it first came out. I can't remember tons about it, and I don't really feel like that impeded my enjoyment of Pandora. I loved Pandora when it first opened. It was my favorite thing about the trip when I first saw it. I still love Pandora, but the newness has worn off now.

I have never seen Guardians, but I LOVED the coaster. Much like Pandora, the coaster was one of my favorite things about the trip. Even though I've never seen the movie, they do a really good job of setting up the story in the pre-shows. You really don't need to know anything about the movies.

@Goofyernmost , I read in another thread that you're having some neck fusion surgery next week. I hope all goes well, and you'll be back home recovering, in a few days after that.

At least you have a competent surgical team! :joyfull:

Thanks Minnie, fingers crossed. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but hopefully it will relieve some of the more annoying symptoms I've been dealing with lately.
