Day 1 of summer school down. 14 more to go.
Is it more challenging to keep the attention of the students during the summer, when they might prefer to just be out playing with their pals? (I always felt sad for kids that had to go to summer school, because they were falling behind during the year.) Does the school system maybe do a few fun things for the kids (and teachers as well), like maybe an ice cream break one afternoon, or whatever?

I feel like most summer school around here is not academic. It's "enrichment", also known as "free daycare". We go 8-11, with a different class each hour. So I have a STEM class, Doodles & Drawings, and Nature Explorations. In STEM they built houses out of different blocks. We watched a directed drawing on how to draw Mr. Incredible for Doodles & Drawings. And then we did a scavenger hunt on the playground for the nature class.

My rabbits are enjoying this mid July evening....View attachment 654167
They are not actually my pets. They just chose to live in my yard. I never have to feed them or take them to the veterinarian. Is this comparable to being a grandparent? You play with your grandchildren yet you don't have to make sure they brush their teeth or do their homework...etc, etc.

Hope it stays on that date and they don't reschedule again sir. 🤞
I don't believe I mentioned the type of surgery this is. I have to have a Cervical spine vertebrae fusion that requires them to open a hole about the size of the grand canyon in my neck. It is a fairly routine surgery, but one that is part of the few things that would raise my anxiety level. So another week and a half to think about it. (sigh)

I believe my boss at a prior job had this surgery - they go in through the front to get to the vertebrae? If so his was a huge success and if I recall (this was 20 or so years ago) he wasn't laid up for too long. Only good thoughts when you think about it!!

Yup, that is what they keep telling me and eventually, probably about a year after it, I will be convinced.🙂
