Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

The next two days are Amazon Prime Days. That means I'll get to spend two straight days watching for deals that I probably won't take and don't need. Last year's Prime Day was a giant bust IMO. The first time they had them, I got a lot of good finds.

NASA released a new image of a very small slice of the universe. It shows galaxies that are extremely far away. More images will be released tomorrow. The one in this link I read is actually how they appeared billions of years ago, although I've heard conflicting reports about how many billions. Anywhere from 4-13. They were so long ago because they are so far away.

Even though most of this is super confusing to me, it's still very cool.

EDIT - Just saw this picture is 13 billion lightyears away.

EDIT #2 - Sorry, I just watched a video about it. Some of the images coming will be from 13.5 billion years ago. They said they know the universe is about 13.8 billion years old, which means these images are from almost the beginning of the universe. They said the images will be so clear that we will be able to tell the chemical composition of the atmospheres to determine whether life is possible on the planets. It's all so cool.

@JenniferS, I randomly got to wondering how Canadians measure their height... in feet/inches or using the metric system. I Googled and found that Canada officially uses the metric system to do it, but if you ask anyone they'll use feet and inches. So my question is... first, is that true? Second, if so do official documents like driver's licenses and medical record show height and weight using the metric system?

My driver’s licence says I am 163 cm. If you ask me, I will tell you that I am 5’ 4” AND A QUARTER. Weight is not listed on DL or passport.

Much of Canada is made up of recent immigrants, and most new immigrants measure in metric, so it totally depends who you ask. I dare say, most will still give you their height in feet/inches.

Temperature is almost exclusively metric, as is driving speed.

Does this help?

Driving speed is in Celsius ? Why not Fahrenheit like normal people ;)

Yes. Thank you. I'm not sure why I randomly got to thinking about it.

I bought new airpods. Mine went through the washing machine and only one survived but since the case needs to communicate with BOTH they wont charge. Grr. Anyway the older ones are on sale for $89. Score.

I've ordered flip flops and an Under Armour polo. I also ordered some fake plants for my classroom, but those weren't on a Prime Day deal. I need fake plants, because I am not someone to take the time and effort to water plants. But at the same time, I want a little more "nature" in my classroom since I don't really get any natural light in my room.

My problem is sooo tiny compared to @PUSH's post...
...but I have spent a lot of time trying to get the top of this bag to open. I massage it..
.....I pinch either side and pull in opposite directions. The stupid plastic will not separate!View attachment 653025
Here's a video on how to open stuck plastic bags (the one shown is a plastic grocery bag, but the woman's hint should work on any stuck plastic bag.) I think we've all been through this!

Because I have a few relatives that are not members of the site but follow along for our trips, I’ll do a dedicated trip report here in Chit Chat for our upcoming 16 day trip to Pigeon Forge; and then a separate one for the 31 day trip to the Keys.

Apparently I post more religiously here than to FaceBook. Shrug.

Leaving next weekend, so I’ll start it next week some time.

In recent days, we have installed a tailgate assist to the truck (it’s too heavy for me to lift), a wifi booster for the Winegard, and a digital door lock. Yesterday I ordered a dual fuel generator - being delivered this week; and a CAA TripTik, which I’m picking up on Friday. And today, Mike found a bike rack for our two bikes that we’ll install over the weekend.

I’m excited for many aspects of this trip, but for sure the highlight will be seeing our friend @InnKpr, whom we haven’t seen since just before COVID closed the borders.

Sadly, @NYwdwfan is taking a pass on joining us ….
