Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

That is the excuse that is most often used. Family and friends. Imagine the numbers of those I had to leave behind after 63 years. Even though I miss them I still do not regret my decision. Of course it helps that my immediate family basically were here already when I moved down. Even then it was not an easy decision when I was making it.

Thought I'd pipe in here about PUSH not wanting to move away from family and friends, in the area he lives now. Some people are really close to their family, while others may not be -- or, some just might not see their family more than once a year, maybe on Christmas.

My family is all over (as mentioned before, one of my bro's is in N.C.), and distance from one another is just normal for all of us. But, to each his own. Maybe PUSH might not like the cold weather (I can't understand why--I LOVE it :inlove: ), but maybe his happiness around his loving family and close friends, more than makes up for his dislike of winter.

I don't know why but I must be wording things incorrectly. I thought that I acknowledged that to be a reason. I could have moved sooner but my Mother was quite elderly and I waited until she passed before I made the move. Not for me, necessarily, but for her. As it was I was able to hold her hand as she died. I hope that brought her some comfort. So, in other words, I understand the family thing. I guess you could say that I moved to also be with my daughters and grandkids and eventually my ex-wife was brought here to be with us, or at least them for four years before her death. My ex is even buried in my plot. I will be there eventually as well, same space. The space making benefits of cremation.

I hope that I made that clearer that I understand why people stay put, even though inside they would like to go to a better place. Vermont was a nice place, but I had used up all the reason to be there.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
My next door neighbour is moving to Nova Scotia. Her new(ish) husband accepted a 5-year work contract.

Her 27 and 29 year old sons are staying here. I couldn’t imagine.

My whole family lived within 5-15 minutes of each other. Our ranks have thinned by half now, so my two remaining brothers had bloody well not even think of moving away!

I completely understand your reasons, and support your decisions as they were correct.

(I was only trying to point out that different people have different personal preferences, that either make them prefer to stay put; or instead, they really want to go out and explore different places to live.) Just saying different strokes and all. ) :)

How does everyone feel about the final weekend of August?
It’s been such a weird 6 months, that for me, one month keeps running into the next. Also with Labour Day being the absolute latest date that it can be this year, there’s still one more full week of “summer”, so I’m not feeling that usual painful tug on my heart.

How about you?

Summer officially ends when school starts back up. Not on Labor Day.

*queue the person who tells us we are both wrong and summer actually lasts a few more weeks yet*

Jennifer I agree with PUSH. Summer is over when school begins. I go back to school for three days of training next week: Sept. 1 - 3. Then the children arrive on Sept. 8 and 9. It's hybrid, so they are never in the building on the same day. Anyway...my summer was broken up nicely. We had one 6 day getaway in July(Kentucky) and another one this month(Virginia & West Virginia). I am definitely ready to work with kids and also ready to resume actually receiving a paycheck again😂

“Summer” ends on Labour Day ... school starts the next. Lucky us though, we get another long weekend in early October for Thanksgiving.
We start next week on Tuesday with a four day week. Then we have a four day week after that. Next is a Friday off in October, then Real Thanksgiving, then winter break. After winter break it's a long, cold, dark, dreary span of time until spring break.
