I can hardly wait until winter gets here and see the drastic change in the reason for complaints. I always get amused by that! It's another heat wave for us. The heat index is going to reach the upper 90s today. That's hot for up here! But it's not snow, so I'll take it!
I'd take the snow any day! My body just doen't handle heat well. It's another heat wave for us. The heat index is going to reach the upper 90s today. That's hot for up here! But it's not snow, so I'll take it!
I don't think I was complaining. I was just saying it was going to be hot here, and I even followed it up with saying I'll take it so that people would know it's not a complaint.I can hardly wait until winter gets here and see the drastic change in the reason for complaints. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were complaining. I was just making a statement about the topic of heat vs. snow in the connection with the general topic and how it varies from season to season.I don't think I was complaining. I'll always take heat over snow. I think I've established that over the years. I just live in the wrong climate...Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were complaining. Well, Wisconsin isn't exactly in the tropics. It's even worse than Vermont for that stuff. You're young yet, no hurry but if cold bothers you a lot you might consider moving south. The weather is nicer, the costs are lower and the people are friendly y'all! I've been down here almost 10 years now and almost everyday I kick myself for not having made the move 30 years ago.I'll always take heat over snow. I think I've established that over the years. Maybe I'll win the lottery and move down there during the winter. I should probably start playing the lottery for that plan to work, though...Well, Wisconsin isn't exactly in the tropics. Somewhere in the middle, between the two extremes would be nice. Kinda like NC weather, actually.Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were complaining. I was just making a statement about the topic of heat vs. snow in the connection with the general topic and how it varies from season to season.
I can tell you now, I don’t miss the fans. The canned crowd noise satisfies my auditory needs. And I’m ambivalent about the cut outs. There are some sports fans who do not necessarily look at the wdwmagic sports forum. So I want to invite people to look over there if you wish to consider posting on my thread entitled: "As a viewer, do you miss the fans?"
Basically it is your chance to post if you are distracted while watching your favorite sport on tv because there are no spectators in the stands.
For those of you who could care less about this topic....well...that's fine. Carry on
They haven’t released much beyond what you said - some things pre-recorded like how they did the pop-up fireworks shows each night leading up to the fourth of july and then strung them together for the television airing. They alerted people a half hour or hour or so before so it was small crowds. No true details yet on how the live part will go. I’m still curious if they are going to make Halloween recommendations.A little early for this, but @NYwdwfan , have you heard about some upcoming changes to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this fall? I only caught a brief news report the other day, that indicated it will be some type of hybrid (so to speak) production. I think I heard that all the flying balloons will still be present, but some of the events/performances, etc., may be virtual (not sure if taped or "live"). More to come on all of this as a lot of it may be adjusted for covid case statistics, etc., as the date approaches.
Still unclear about information regarding any crowds, etc. (Assuming they would either cut down or not allow crowds this time?)
It doesn't require all that much to move and as an experienced teacher, it shouldn't be a problem to get work immediately, at least after this Pandammit has passed. In fact you should be able to have a job lined up before you even make the move.Maybe I'll win the lottery and move down there during the winter. You know that might just work. I think I'll try it. Wait! I did and it worked perfectly.Somewhere in the middle, between the two extremes would be nice. Kinda like NC weather, actually.
All my family and friends are in this area of Wisconsin, so this is most likely where I'll end up staying for the long run. If it wasn't for driving in the snow, I wouldn't mind it as much. I have a 30 minute commute on a normal day, 95% of it on the highway. When it's snowy, it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. That's the reason I hate snow the most. And recess duty is not fun in the cold. And I'll have two recess duties a day this year since I have to supervise my own class to avoid mixing anyone else with my "cohort".It doesn't require all that much to move and as an experienced teacher, it shouldn't be a problem to get work immediately, at least after this Pandammit has passed. I'll tell you this so that your imagination and motivation stays alive. I was with my daughters and family on Sunday and the discussion got around to how life went after they moved. They were both in their thirties and both unanimously and loudly exclaimed that their lives didn't really begin until they moved. The opportunities were so much more plentiful. No one went over two weeks without a full time job and even though there has been normal human ups and downs, they don't regret it at all. Except of one of my son in laws that cannot handle the summer heat well. Personally, I love it unless it gets too hot. Then I only spend enough time in it to get to my car and from my car. Everything else is AC'd to the hilt.Maybe I'll win the lottery and move down there during the winter. I should probably start playing the lottery for that plan to work, though...
That is the excuse that is most often used. Family and friends. Imagine the numbers of those I had to leave behind after 63 years. Even though I miss them I still do not regret my decision. Of course it helps that my immediate family basically were here already when I moved down. Even then it was not an easy decision when I was making it.All my family and friends are in this area of Wisconsin, so this is most likely where I'll end up staying for the long run.
