Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

We took a drive up to a state park on the Mississippi River between Wisconsin and Iowa. We got out and walked around a little bit, but mostly drove around. It started to rain on us near the end.

This was a lookout from a picnic area. Near here were some effigy mounds. One shaped like a bear. There were many of them lined up, and apparently they went on for half a mile. We didn't walk the entire length. We could hear thunder coming from across the river.

Also in this area was a Pigeon Monument.

And this picture was taken from a different picnic area. I took it from a shelter area because it started raining pretty hard, but you can't tell from the picture.

It's also not pictured, but we drove near some group camps where I had Outdoor Ed in 6th grade. We had different tasks to do each day. One of them was to build the best shelter. My group won. As we were driving through the roads, I saw some makeshift shelters in the woods, and I wondered if any of those were from Outdoor Ed groups.

Today was the first Sunday back at my church. We now have multiple services to split up the congregation, there are temperature checks at the door, mask wearing is mandatory, half the pews are roped off, and we’re ushered out through separate doors to maintain social distancing. It was a bit weird with all the new precautions, but it was great just to be back.

Everybody gets puppies that eat until they puke!

Me, all my puppies are petite eaters that have to be given a tablespoon of “appetite stimulating” wet food once a day.

Shouldn’t complain though. Every vet always says too skinny is better than even slightly too fat.

Some people (not you) worry a bit too much about the food intake of their pets (unless something dramatically changes for the pet, for no apparent reason).

What I've heard down through the years is that NO animal (either domestic or out in the wilds) will intentionally starve itself. They're not goofy like some of us human beings, with our crash diets, etc. They eat to live, not live to eat.

Your puppy is healthy, and I'm loving the photos! :inlove:

Thank you! Today was the first day I’ve been able to wear a bow tie in months. Well, I suppose I could have worn one sooner, but wearing a bow tie around the house is just a little too weird, even for me.

Actually, I could see you doing that! :joyfull:

Glad you were able to return to church. My church also has the (40% occupancy max.), masks required, etc., but I just can't go back yet. I'm way too skittish about the indoor venue, for about a 40 minute service. If it was an outdoor service with spacing, I would go. I continue to watch the Sunday morning service on TV only.

So the reopening guidelines for Wisconsin schools looks like what schools have been talking about for months. They pretty much say we have lots of possibilities. Make a plan. Do it. Not really any guidelines.

Piecing this together from my camera roll, but a year ago today was my first full day at Disney. We took a tour around Coronado Springs before checking out. We then went over to POR and checked into our river view room that we'd be in for the rest of the trip. We took the boat ride to Disney Springs with plans of trying Chicken Guy for lunch. Unfortunately the line was backed out the door, so we ended up a D-Luxe Burger. The food was good, but not something I'd probably go back to again.

After lunch, we headed back to POR. Then we went to AK, parking in Dinosaur 35. Our first FP was for FoP, and I remember having a hard time getting that one. It then looks like we headed to the Maharajah Jungle Trek and saw some tigers. Then it looks like we headed over to Expedition Everest for our next FP. They had started setting up for RoL, but we tried that on our previous trip and really didn't like it at all. We found it pretty boring. We got rained out of the finale on that trip. After EE, we headed over to KS for our last FP of the night. I remember this being one of the highlights of the trip. The animals were so active at sunset, and I remember hearing the lions roar. I had never heard that on the ride before. So cool! A rhino was so close, I could have touched it. And there were tons of giraffes, which my mom really enjoyed. After that we took the path that takes us in the backdoor to Pandora. We explored Pandora at night, which is always super cool. My mom ran into one of her students outside the gift shop. We then left the park for the night and went back to POR.

We went down to the River Mill food court and got some desserts.

Tune in tomorrow for more adventures! Pictures from today to come.
