Dinner - BLT's and asparagus parm risotto (Aldi brand...highly recommend if you like risotto).

I love their risottos. My favorite is the mushroom. My son calls it “fat rice”.

We’re doing takeout.
An hour/40 minutes to two hour wait.
We did Chili’s to go, curbside pickup.
Wow, I haven't done any takeout yet...is that seeming to be a standard wait time now?
Today was my first time. We ordered at 5:15 and I picked it up at 5:45 after stopping at the hardware store for a less minty sample of pale green paint.

We are less than a month away from the 10-year anniversary of my dad’s passing. You know darn well that if he were alive today and in his last days, nothing in Heaven or Earth would stop me from seeing him. I’ve already said that if I had a relative in a long term care facility right now, I would bring them home.

If you’re going to die anyway, better to die surrounded by loved ones; rather than neglected, in an 18-hour old soiled adult brief, confused and scared.

In terms of the military - in some care homes, so many staff are out with COVID themselves, that 40 patients are being tended to by two staff working a double shift. As Dougie said - We can do better. We must do better.

Mike and I have already said that if either one of us gets it, we will continue to sleep in the same bed, and look after one another. We’ll be more like Isador and Ida Straus, and less like Jack and Rose.
That was my point. I would have and probably still would jump in front of a truck to protect my children. I'll be damned if a virus would stop me from being there for them now, yet I could be arrested. It is a nice protective action for the living, but it is just plain awful for the dying. Plus it really attempts to make uncaring machines out of human beings. It is taking a situation that at best has about a 25% chance of actually developing into a deadly reaction and attempting to make it a sure thing. That is what angers me. It is not the masks or the hand washing or the social distancing. It is the lack of recognition of the emotional importance of having someone that cares directly trying to make you better. It is the dehumanization of people that needs some rethought.

Back to the military... what possible help are they going to give the staff. They may know how to kill people but I would guess that their background in medicine is quite limited. Probably my more in the way then help. Not everything is fixed by throwing the force of the military in the middle of it. I, of course, could be wrong, but what are the odds of that? 😷 ;)

Fat rice 🤣.

That's funny because my husband wanted to get Chili's takeout tonight too but I told him no, lets have bacon 🥓. Quick pick up time...What did you order?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

This is the Canadian military. We call ourselves “Peacekeepers”, remember?

Some will apparently be cleaning, changing sheets, delivering food .... More than half are actually medical personnel.

Untrained hands are better than no hands.
Partially trained hands are even better.
Medically trained hands are ideal.

I can’t find today’s numbers, but these are from yesterday: “The ministry also indicated there are 2,287 confirmed cases among long-term care residents and 1,089 cases among staff.”

I was surprised. Although I shouldn’t have been, given that it took six attempts over 20 minutes to get a clear line.
