Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Might be happening here in the bigger/ busier markets. We've been doing some warehouse club shopping (BJs/ Sams)...they can't limit you to 2 cans of corn when they only sell them in 6 packs! They were limiting paper products but had a lot of stock to go around.
I broke my leg 12/15/18, and had related knee surgery in July, and an unrelated hip replacement this February. To the best of my recollection, I have not been to Costco since. I miss it so much!
(Especially the twisty ice cream cones on the way out.)

Our grocery stores also only permit one person per household - children excepted, but they would rather you leave them at home.

They will not let a couple in, one is sent back to the car to wait.

Is this anyone else’s experience?
I think Walmart has implemented this rule, and they have it taped off outside where to wait when the store reaches its capacity. Spots are taped off 6 feet apart.

Wow, that's a lot. Hope you're healing successfully!

I love Costco too. As I'm sure you know we don't have one here but we joined the Rochester club and were going about once a month until the Covid situation happened. Much of Hubs wardrobe comes from Costco 🤫🤭

I've never been to a Costco or a BJ's. I think the reason is that they sell in bulk, and it's just 2 of us at home. We don't need a pile of stuff. So I don't want to pay a membership fee, to get in the door.

For larger families or groups, it makes sense to join, I think.

Here too... I go shortly after 7am and there is no wait to get in. The Walmart here is huge, I'd have to say 100,000 square ft or more. I hardly ever meet anyone in the aisles. However, we all seem to want the same stuff, because that is where a crowd will happen, right in front of whatever it is that you want. It also is the only time that they have paper products out. I'd say by 9am the shelves are empty again. I still don't understand why it continues. I bought one big 18 roll package of TP the other day and that honestly would take me through the summer.

My daughter is mad at me right now because I haven't followed her rules to the letter. I go shopping and I play golf. I think that the biggest risk to me is the store. She doesn't want me to go to their house because she is afraid that visiting will give me the virus. Two in the household are required to go out and deal with the public, pretty much every day. I do really appreciate her concern about my health, but that protective love can sometimes go overboard. I am careful and I don't see any threat by golfing with the same people that she is worried will give me the virus. We are very careful to stay, at least, 6 feet apart. Most of the time we are many yards apart. The golf courses around here are doing a brisk business, but even with a lot of people out there we are all spread out over many acres and I just don't see a risk there and it is a good way to get out of our individual cells for some recreation and exercise.

Yes for some things it doesnt make sense, but you can get good deals on certain things that are non-perishable like medicines, vitamins, towels/linens, kitchen gadgets. I buy my bottled water there and also utilize the pharmacy, optical and deli a lot. Buying my contact lenses alone saves me the cost of membership...but of course those things don't apply for everyone.

I had a membership for BJ's since I got here in NC. I finally took the time to do a cost worthy evaluation. The biggest deal I got was a 10 cent per gallon discount for gas if I used the BJ's credit card. Other then that every once in a while, I buy a couple of big jars of JIF peanut butter and three box package of Lipton Tea Bags. Other then my purchase of corned beef in the Deli section I don't get much. I did buy a TV a year ago, but not much else. It certainly didn't save me the $55.00 membership.

How about a capsule report on how all that body fixing has gone! Are you ready to run a marathon yet?

Glad it works for you. I noticed you mentioned medicines above. Had to chuckle a little. I recall watching one of Clark Howard's financial updates (this was back when he had his own financial advice show on TV, some years ago).

Anyway, he had gone to a Costco and was showing how they capitalize on impulse buying -- usually by putting these large quantities of items in a "package". One item "package" was a TEN-pack of Advil?! Good lord, I wouldn't even go through one small bottle in a year. :hilarious:

So that's just one example, but I never forgot that one! ;)

That's a good example! We bought a bottle of 500 acetaminophen for 5.99 the other day. It was a great deal but as you said it will take a lonnngg time to go through. I'll probably give half to my mom and then we'll all be prepared for a lot of fevers if we get sick :hungover:
