What I want to know is, how did this topic get approved as a serious science fair topic? Back when I was a lad and in school, we had to submit our topics to the teacher prior to carrying out the experiment and creating the report.

I'm guessing this kid's teacher was expecting something more along the lines of this:

when he said he was doing his project on a-tom's characteristics.

Am I the only one who never competed in a science fair? Our school doesn't even do science fairs... of course we'd have to teach science, which isn't on national and state standardized tests, so why would anyone teach that? Not like social studies is important, either...

Listening to Kelly Clarkson's version of Never Enough on YouTube (which is amazing, by the way), and I'm reading the comments. Many of them commenting on how she sings the big notes at "me" instead of "may" like most singers do. One comment started talking about how "me" is a dipthong. The first grade teacher in me wanted to comment and correct him/her, but I just silently judged them instead. Dipthongs are two vowels that go together to make another sound. For example: foil. #nerd

They are called that too. There are two companies that make Girl Scout cookies. Some of their cookies go by different names.

Like Tagalongs vs Peanutbutter Patties.

Yeah. I believe some of the ingredients of the cookies can be slightly different depending on the company even if they go by the same name. But the taste is same more or less.
