Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Sounds like you were in Nashville if you were in the Grand Ole Oprey's neighborhood. But close enough.
That very well may be. I remember we went through knoxville, but I'm fuzzy on where we stayed. We checked into a Super 8 that was pretty much the only thing with a vacancy, and went to Denny's for dinner. And I remember my mom wanted to go to some historical house there, but it was closed that day. We almost always drove everywhere...I only remember flying once, when I was about 9. Other than that, we drove, and my mom would pick our route based on historic landmarks and we'd tour on the way. So went to some museum in Hays Kansas, and we went to the Mammoth Cave and Louis and Clark trail in.....Kentucky? We went to Abraham Lincoln's birthplace I think it was? But it all just sort of blends together, because we visited so many places and I was pretty young....it was a long time ago. We did get to see a LOT more of the US than most of my classmates, though! We had a lot of fun on road trips.

Am I the only one who never competed in a science fair? Our school doesn't even do science fairs... of course we'd have to teach science, which isn't on national and state standardized tests, so why would anyone teach that? Not like social studies is important, either...
You don't teach science there? Really? When I was in school, it was always the same old things that won science fair projects. The volcano, the tornado in a jar, etc. I did mine on rainbow's one year and I had a prism and flashlight, but that's not as impressive as fake lava, I guess.

I was in 6th grade when we had a science fair. We all had to participate, and do a poster, plus include some sort of model. So, I picked plants, and explained about chlorophyll. My model was a cheap plant I bought, and it died a day before the competition. (That might have happened, because I neglected to water it . . . ) :p

I have a fond memory of winning a 4th grade science fair. I collected rocks and nicely glued them to a poster board and labeled each one. The poster was organized by the three classifications: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.
I bet those three categories sound familiar to many of you??? Funny the way some things in a person's education stick with us for life.

Well, that's good that you won! Now, as for the three categories referenced above, they sound familiar, but can't say I could explain any one of them. :cautious: I just don't think I was destined for any career in science! ;)

When I went to school Science hadn't been invented yet. ;) My daughter and her friend teamed up and won the science fair in their school. Subject... Bubbleology. It's amazing how a little liquid soap and a few props can create some fascinating displays. PS. Fortunately for her, I was not involved in any of it other then to go to the fair.

Older grade levels do. In first grade we "teach" it because our reading curriculum ties it in. But IMO we don't teach it. We just talk about it occasionally.

Well this explains a lot.

If at some point that monitor registers any other bed based activity... we really don't want to know. Seriously though, have you ever been checked for sleep apnea. That is how my nights used to work before the diagnosis. (actually worse then that) Or on a slightly less alarming thought, let's see, how to put this in a non-traumatic way... OK, as we (not you necessarily) age we require less sleep. With me anywhere between 6 or 7 hours per night. That amount of sleep for me is all I need and have never shown any signs of a loss of cccccccccccc cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc (snore)

Where was I... oh, yea... how about those Blue Jays.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

No apnea. It’s my hip and knee. 🙁
