Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Voting is really important....maybe you could bring your own cupcakes next time to reward yourself for doing your civic duty? :p If you buy it yourself, you also get to pick out whatever treat you want...you aren't limited to cupcakes, or to whatever kind of cupcake the school are selling. You could get cheesecake, or cookies.....or you can have a cupcake of your choice and not have to take whatever is left over.

I want them to continue to bake cupcakes for me. It's my incentive to drag my butt over there to vote, after a long day of work. :hilarious:

One little trauma today though. We had seen an A&W on the way back, so we decided to get root beer floats, and drank them right there at the restaurant. I hung my purse on the back of my chair, then walked out without it. I realized it as soon as we got back to the hotel (our next stop), so we hightailed back, and much to my relief, the waitress there had spotted it right away, and locked it up in a safe. Everything was in it, licence, credit cards, cash, and nothing was touched. I was soooooooo relieved!!! We tried to pay her for her honesty but she would not accept anything, so I plan to write to their headquarters to reward her.

I can understand what a trauma that was. I have misplaced my purse twice and luckily honest people found it and contacted me. I am pleased that someone honest found yours too.

Hi @PUSH . How's your new classroom of kids so far? Did they start school this week, or was it late August?
I started back last Wednesday, but our first day with kids was yesterday. Yesterday went super well. Today, not as much, but it's such a tough schedule for 6 and 7 year olds to handle. And when things don't happen when they're supposed to it can throw things off. The first week is always hard, but I'm optimistic about the rest of the year. I think it's going to be a really good class.

Thanks for asking!

Speaking of voting and politics, today while driving to work, I was behind an SUV at a stoplight with a sticker on it's rear window which read: "Walt for Governor".

Not knowing anything about this candidate or his stance on any key issues... based on his name alone, this sounds like somebody I could support. Just saying.

I'd vote for him, too, even though I don't live in your state. But I'll still try. (That is to say, as long as they provide refreshments at the polling place, that is . . . :hilarious: )

I left my string bag on BLSRS last week - first ride in the first park of out trip. It only had bottles of water in it so there was no real panic but it always seems to be when I’m traveling and don’t have my normal pocketbook that I leave things behind. @Nemo14 I’m glad your leave-behind had a happy ending!

It is a purse I don't use every day (lots of pockets to keep me organized), so I'll blame it on that! In fact I don't always carry a purse, depending on where I'm going, but I can't deny that I'm a bit of a rattlehead the older I get...

Kind of reminds me years ago. I was in the newspaper publishing business. We received this hand written platform from one of the candidates for state senator. It was about 15 pages of the most massive pile of garbage I had ever read. Even though we were a shopping paper (mostly ads) I decided to run it, because, this guy was considered a legitimate candidate and his platform contained items ranging from draining Lake Champlain to find treasure to how to deal with Aliens if they landed in your yard. This thankfully was just the primary, but, after the election, he did lose, but, it was amazingly close. It was a prime example of people that didn't even look at qualifications, but, used some other thing to judge the situation.

I was talking to my parents about the election and to my surprise they had both voted for this guy. When the shock wore off I asked why? Their response was... well, he had a nice French name, so it just seemed like the correct thing to do. Since we lived close to Quebec, Canada I guess I can understand that, kinda, sorta. There are a lot of French Canadian folks that live in Vermont, however, my family isn't really even mostly french. We apparently had enough to make them think that this would be a good choice.

Most places like that won't let you accept tips. You could get fired if you do. I turned down a $5 tip at Kmart during my first year there. I accepted a $20 tip on the last day, though. Because what are they going to do, fire me? It was the shadiest thing, too. He handed it to me while shaking my hand like it was a drug deal. :hilarious: What I actually did was spent 4 hours checking him and his crew out. They go around to closing stores and buy almost everything that's left over on the last day, then resell it at a store they own in Iowa. By the time they were leaving, I was back in the office, so he asked someone to find me to thank me, the slipped me the 20...

But that's awesome that they had your purse!!
When I worked for Kmart Corp, we were told that if we received a tip, we were supposed to ring it up and put it in the cash register. 😟

I have done something like that three times with my phone. Every time at a golf course. One would think that after the first time I would have remembered it. Nope! The one that really puzzles me is when I leave it at home. It simply boggles my mind that after years and years and years of not even having a mobile phone at all, that I would panic if I left without it. The only people that normally call me are my daughters and that isn't all the time. I can go days without it ringing, but, I will panic if I leave it there. We sure do become dependent on things in a short time. If I remember it soon enough I will turn around and go back and get it. No one has ever called me after I went to the trouble to drive back home. In fact, no one called even if I didn't go back home to get it. I keep getting the feeling that some of the brain cells, which weren't all that plentiful to begin with, are starting to leak out of my scalp.
