Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

We always do "Free" Dining. For Hubby, it's all about the meals. For him, the parks and rides and shows are just the "appetizer" before dinner.
Amazingly considering that I have had a weight problem all my life, I have never gone to WDW thinking about what I was going to eat when I got there. I don't go for the food and never have. Do you know that I didn't even know that the bakery had Cinnamon rolls until all the upset started up when they were not there any longer. Never even stepped foot in the place. I can get food at home, I don't need to spend buckets of money to buy it elsewhere.
OK, maybe I pre-plan my Mickey Bar consumption.

The Poly was my favorite resort. We've been going once or twice a year there for a while and, quite frankly, the last time we were there, there was no "magic". Not just at the resort, but anywhere in the World. With everything else being cut back or super-charged, I no longer feel a need to blow $10,000 on a Disney vacation - that was our all in cost when we took my Mom last December. We've eaten a lot of tuna or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to save up for those trips and now we'll have equally memorable trips at a fraction of the cost. Time to stop feeding the beast.... :(

It's going to be a loooooong time before we go back. We've been every year (twice this past year) for 8 years. All deluxe. I'm willing to overlook a lot of things but when my 10 and 12 year old are asking why buildings are vacant, restaurants are closed, rides are breaking down or dirty and it takes 40 minutes for a bus to arrive, there's something very wrong.

I went down to New Orleans (well technically it was in Marrero) today for a birthday party .

My lame attempt at trying to get a picture of the Louisiana welcome sign.

The Plaza Tower is one of my two favorite skyscrapers in New Orleans. It's been abandoned for years due to black mold, but I keep hoping it'll get restored one day.

Whenever we go back down to the Westbank my mom has to stop at China Doll. It's one of her favorite restaurants.

I can't remember what my drink was called. It was a Polynesian something or other.

And as always I had to pick me up some Taco Tico.

Ahh. I miss a day and y'all go spirit on me? Obviously I'm needed around here more than I thought! :p
Yeah, I'm in Disney mode right now too.
Just waiting for the Free Dining dates and I am good to go!

Assuming we go mid-fall, this is what will be new in the intervening 14-15 months since our last trip:
DAK - Rivers of Light, Tree lighting, Night-time Safari
MK - Skipper's Cantina, new Castle show, and maybe we'll finally catch the new afternoon parade.
Epicot - New Soarin' film, Frozenstrom, Ample Hills Creamery ice cream place out the back door.
DHS - Launch Bay, new Jedi show
Disney Springs - should be a lot closer to finished!

What will be gone since our last trip:
HIStK - not really where Hubby and I tend to hang out; SoA - RIP Osborne Lights, but I get it; LMA - that was a one and done for us.

I feel sad that some of you are growing disenchanted with WDW, but like I said, I'm not there yet. And assuming (hoping, praying) that we're back in the "plussing" groove for a while, I hope I never will be.

Sadly, I did go to Canada's Wonderland this summer, and came to the startling realization that I'm pretty much done with that park. Two awesome B & M coasters and a bumper car ride are not enough to draw me anymore.

Not a fan of Chinese food at all, but your pics look delish! And that's not just the diet talking.

This time next week we will be sleeping in Pensacola on our way to WDW.

That's good. I wish they offered at least the QS Dining Plan to people who don't stay in one of their hotels.

Anyway, the best part is that you get hubby to go along with you. :) (My hubby hates Disney, always has, and I can't even entice him to go there with a full TS dining plan! :hilarious: ) Different strokes, you know? :p

I love your pictures! Never been to Louisiana, and I like how the welcome sign is also in French (just like up in parts of Canada). That Tower is interesting (not sure what architectural "style" it is), but how bizarre that it was shut down due to black mold. Yikes. I wonder if it had a flood, or if it was from maybe, humidity?

Drooled over the picture of the crab rangoons! (my favorite . .. :hungry:) Your lemon chicken looked delicious. As for the taco tico, I've never heard of those, but if you like them, I'll bet they're yummy.

(In your other thread) I had to laugh about the other restaurant (in Mississippi), that served the Chinese buffet. :joyfull: I don't think I've ever seen meatballs in a Chinese buffet up here, either! :D

I rarely watch it anymore but since we got home late last night and I was wide awake I thought I'd watch it. I went to bed after the King Henry thing, I was like no thanks. I'd rather lie wide awake in bed then watch that.
It got worse - some kind of dating game skit wherein he played a gross European professor type. Ugh!
