Turns out once I Googled PotC-CotBP and read the plot summary, I clearly have not seen the whole film.
Not sure how the kids and I missed it at the drive-in. 2 and 3 we saw multiple times.
So, I have to revise my statement - the second installment is the best ... of the films I've actually seen.
The fourth was definitely the weakest.

Not if we believe hard enough...The first was the best.
The second was good, but the hanging plot threads they left for the third weaken it when rewatching.
The third felt like they made it up as they went and it made no dang sense most of the time.
