Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Please, please, please I need the hydro not to go out tomorrow. I have a 7 kg ham to bake as well as 2 kg of scalloped potatoes. Even though it's not my job to bring potatoes, I picked them up from Denninger's on a whim, and it's a darn good thing I did, because my brother forgot.

It is, however, still freezing rain. Tree limbs and branches are continuing to fall like acorns, and there have been sporadic power failures throughout the city all day.

Fingers crossed that the hydro is on between noon and 4:30 p.m. I don't mind dining by candle light, but 15 lbs of ham doesn't cook well that way.
When I first read this, I thought you were hoping that your water wouldn't get shut off. I then realized that you were talking about your electricity.

So, this woman at work (late 60s) and her hubs, (early 70s) went to WDW for the first time in over 30 years, and just returned. Before her trip, I purposely didn't say much, as I didn't want to influence her impressions. (All I suggested was that they pace themselves, and maybe take a mid-afternoon break at their hotel pool.)

Only had a few minutes to chat, and asked for a few highlights. She loved staying at the Beach Club (convenient), and the magic bands worked very well for them. Said the parks were "nice" (she didn't mention any rides or other attractions. o_O ).

She said the only thing she hated was the breakfast buffet at the Beach Club. They charged them $75 each, and she was expecting a fabulous spread of delicious food. She said it wasn't worth even $20--boring, little selection. She said a few people were walking around in Mickey and Goofy costumes (so this was a character breakfast, which she didn't quite realize jacked up the price). Then she said, "They have a nerve charging $75 for that. I've had better breakfasts at Denny's, and so much cheaper!" :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

That is kind of funny about the character buffet, you'd would have thought that she would have figured it out. Yesterday at the airport I ran into a family from my church and chatted with them about their trip. They only went to Epcot (apparently at my husband's suggestion) and they said it was the biggest waste of money ever! :jawdrop: And that they wished they had done Animal Kingdom instead. I had to force myself to hold myself together, as I love Epcot.

But I could see why they said that, they have 2 active kids, they aren't foodies, and really aren't the kind of people who enjoy "learning" on vacation. If they had talked to me I would have suggested Animal Kingdom for them. They didn't want to do MK because they thought it would be too much walking, as they dad is a little disabled now (not the kind of guy to use an EVC).

Do you have a ham dinner with your family & rellies on Good Friday each year? Different regions have different traditions. Around here, I think people tend to get together like that on Easter Sunday. Oh, by the way, I love scalloped potatoes. Save some leftovers for me, please! :hungry:
Yes, we do it on Good Friday, as my brother Jamie always gets together with the wife's fam on Easter Sunday. I traditionally work on Saturdays, so Good Friday it is. :)
Same thing for Christmas Day dinner - except for my Dad's last Christmas, Jamie has never joined us since he got married.
