When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
My across the street neighbors have an oasis in their backyard. I get all jealous when I hear them in the pool. No joke - their yard is spectacular.
My neighbours have an above ground pool with a raised deck all the way around it. Our house has no rear neighbour, so the lot is 183' deep. They do have a rear neighbour, so their lot is 90' deep, yielding zero yard.

Once you get two seniors, six adults, four teens, and four babies (of a certain ethnicity known to be quite loud and vocal) in that yard at 9:00 a.m., and the beers come out at 9:15, you sometimes get an annoyed JenniferS, who in typical Cananadian fashion says nothing.

Sometimes I have to close my bedroom window. Quietly, of course.

So, I guess it turned out to be more of a "freezing rain event" than a "snow event".

Schools are open though, so "yay"!
(FYI - I learned the "yay" from School House Rock 40+ years ago.)

ETA: Or ... not, as it turns out. Carry on, I'm going back to bed.

Same for us. Lots of slushy ice. It's like Mother Nature was not sure if it was supposed to be spring or winter. A weird weather event.

So, this woman at work (late 60s) and her hubs, (early 70s) went to WDW for the first time in over 30 years, and just returned. Before her trip, I purposely didn't say much, as I didn't want to influence her impressions. (All I suggested was that they pace themselves, and maybe take a mid-afternoon break at their hotel pool.)

Only had a few minutes to chat, and asked for a few highlights. She loved staying at the Beach Club (convenient), and the magic bands worked very well for them. Said the parks were "nice" (she didn't mention any rides or other attractions. o_O ).

She said the only thing she hated was the breakfast buffet at the Beach Club. They charged them $75 each, and she was expecting a fabulous spread of delicious food. She said it wasn't worth even $20--boring, little selection. She said a few people were walking around in Mickey and Goofy costumes (so this was a character breakfast, which she didn't quite realize jacked up the price). Then she said, "They have a nerve charging $75 for that. I've had better breakfasts at Denny's, and so much cheaper!" :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

Please, please, please I need the hydro not to go out tomorrow. I have a 7 kg ham to bake as well as 2 kg of scalloped potatoes. Even though it's not my job to bring potatoes, I picked them up from Denninger's on a whim, and it's a darn good thing I did, because my brother forgot.

It is, however, still freezing rain. Tree limbs and branches are continuing to fall like acorns, and there have been sporadic power failures throughout the city all day.

Fingers crossed that the hydro is on between noon and 4:30 p.m. I don't mind dining by candle light, but 15 lbs of ham doesn't cook well that way.

In case of emergency fire up the grill... ;)

Do you have a ham dinner with your family & rellies on Good Friday each year? Different regions have different traditions. Around here, I think people tend to get together like that on Easter Sunday. Oh, by the way, I love scalloped potatoes. Save some leftovers for me, please! :hungry:
