I should marry a Brit so I can get over there. That's actually a new a show apparently on TLC. Or I thought it was new. They're on Season 2, 90 Day Fiance. Sign me up.

With your luck she is will be trying to immigrate to the States.

A thought. Have you applied to be a flight attendant? With extra routes you can pick up and travel perks you might be able to see this world you long to live in? There are so many American carriers that fly internationally.

Haven't really thought about it. The planes I've been on....too many people in a small space. Kind of like Disney packing you in like sardines.

Someone once described to me the difference between a conservative person and a liberal person. A conservative person is a liberal person that has been kicked in the butt by life.

Ha! I never heard that one before, it reads like a liberal wrote it for a campaign political commercial. :hilarious:

This doesn't look like a picture that a photographer took with his camera. Rather, it looks like a computer-designed photo. Which do you think it is? Either way, I like the picture, but I'm trying to figure out if it's a "real" scene or a created one.

Looks legit to me. I see a light out at the end of the straight section. Then, it appears to jut off slightly up and to the right, and then there is another light that appears very faintly in the pink/orange sunset/rise in the distance.
Plus, all the materials in the foreground, and the way they lay, look legit to me, as well. :)

Give it some thought or apply and then think about it, you can always decline. I worked for a major airline in my younger years and then moved onto another form of a transportation career. But it is great for the unattached, the perks are great and it would give you the opportunity to see the world you dream of and see if that is genuinely what you want.

(Be careful to only apply to airlines directly though. There is a major scam going on where a company schools you to be a flight attendant, don't fall for it. All major airlines do their own hiring and staffing.) You could also apply for the endless positions at an airport with an airline. You'd still get the perks but you would not have the travel abroad nearly as frequently as a flight attendant would. As a flight attendant not only can you fly on space available seats but you also can use an empty jump seat with on call attendants.

They rarely get time free if I remember correctly.
They only get paid when the plane is moving and they get very little sleep.

Two small victories.

One, after three days of back and forthing with Beelne, Inc (makers of smurf village, the game I was hooked on) over the loss of a village due to the hard recover/restore of my iPad and wanting a refund, I contacted Apple/iTunes and got a *full* refund for all in app purchases. They said the game makers are/were required to make sure games are backed up to iCloud, and since this one wasn't (and my other games did, and are fine) they gave me a full refund.

Cool.

Two, the temp agency called to see if I could do a very temporary, one day assignment tomorrow. Yep, of course I can. One day or not, it's better than nothing.

And I guess it matters, but interview with Macy's next week for a neat position (visual merchandiser) followed by lunch with a friend. Woohoo.

Oh wow! I could totally see you being a visual merchandiser. You can think and see things abstractly, most can't. By your craft arts and your home you have talent for setting a store.

I blew it up to show the details....I think it is real also.

I agree, the extend of the pier makes me think they used a ultrawide lens.
But there is no distortion or switch on the sides of the pier.

The only thing that throws me a bit is how uniformly lighted it is all the way out on the straight section, especially with the sun already pretty much set. Looks like it could be some sort of down-lighting strips, or something, under the top railings. Other than an explanation for that, I still say it's legit. :)

I can't speak to what is not regulated for this country, it could be different pay structures and labor laws in your country.

They start on call, sometimes they work little and other times they work a great deal but there is a minimum salary. Then comes regular runs, hours. No, they don't just paid while moving, they are union positions and labor laws here do require you get paid while you are required to work. Their air hours start when they go on duty at the airport. If a plane is delayed they are paid. Like truck drivers they can only be on duty so many hours, just like pilots before their time expires. That is why sometimes crews expire awaiting their aircraft to arrive or waiting for weather to clear, then flights get delayed yet again because they scramble to bring in a different crew frequently the new on call folk. When I was young that was more difficult cause you were more tied to your home phone. Now a days with cell phones you have more freedom.

It isn't a bad way for younger people to explore the world. You can also transfer to other areas with seniority or to different on ground positions eventually.

Yep, my SIL (DWifeys sis) was a flight attendant for American Airlines for about 15 years, or so.
We enjoyed some of those perks, as well. :)

Yep, SIL started domestic and then went international.
