In a nutshell, back in 1967 Charles de Gaulle gave a speech at Expo 67 basically calling for Quebec to separate from the rest of Canada. Every couple of years during an election they put the separation question on the ballet. So far it hasn't passed, but it has been close on occasion. To say anymore would get it into a political discussion, this is just so you know what we are talking about.

I still have a book from circa 1970 called "Frog Fables and Beaver Tales" which makes fun of the whole situation.

Oh my, that is scary!!!! Are they afraid of people, or are they aggressive? My fear would be that I'd be swimming in the pool, and an uninvited alligator would jump in there with me???!!!! (screams!!! )

We don't have alligators up here in New England, and I'm relieved about that! ;)
Did you know there are gators in the NYC sewage system? It's true.

Yikes! I suppose anything is possible, and maybe it happened once or twice, because maybe someone let a "pet" gator  loose and it ended up in a sewer system. I've heard of people buying baby gators for pets and the gators grow bigger . . . and the owners set them free, because the morons don't know what to do with them. But as for any extended life for gators living outside in N.Y., or anywhere up north, I doubt they could ever survive a freezing cold winter.

No, they've actually reproduced and have multiplied over many generations. They actually have adapted to the environment and the NYC gators are bigger than others.

I read that too...it just wasn't sensational enough for my purposes! :D

I actually read it several places and what surprised me was that it was the exact same quotes and nowhere did Mr. Flaherty expound on his statement of the actual reasons why the sewer would not make a good habitat for the alligators. So I can only assume that this is just another one of those yarns that he is supposed to be debunking!

Hope you feel better very soon. :)

Did you get sick while on your trip? Do you think maybe it's an early flu? My grandmother used to always give us chicken soup if we didn't feel well. She was convinced it had divine healing qualities. I don't know if she was right, but I really liked her chicken soup! :hungry:

Yes, both of my grandmothers made the absolute BEST chicken soup on the planet, and so does my mom. :hungry: :)

Of course, they made/make it with dancing chickens, so... ;)

I got the inside scoop on the new Star Wars movie! Spoiler below, story revealed!

There will be good guys and some bad guys. There will be characters that get killed, some will be rescued, and others who will have their heroic movements. There will be a romantic interest involving certain characters. It will have a happy ending but a new war has just begun!

EDIT - It's safe to read the spoiler. My humor at work.

I saw it before you edited.
For the record, I thought it was funny, anyway. :)
