Yesterday, the actions of a few here, hurt the feelings of many.

Well, that's not how I play. Or who I play with.

I'll be taking a day or two vacation from here.
Nothing permanent, just a day or two to clear my plate, and figure out what went wrong.
(Actually, I know exactly what went wrong, I just have to decide if I want to continue to be a part of it.)

If you leave before I come back @Cesar R M, I hope you have a wonderful trip. Safe journeys and God Bless.
I'm sad to hear that. I wish for your quick return.

I'm sorry to see that there have been a lot of hurt feelings on this thraed in the past few weeks. It was such a fun and happy place to come and hang out. I hope that everyone will soon return and it will revert back to what it once was.....
Yes. And if I ever hurt anyone's feelings, I am sorry. It is never my intention to do so.

I like "likes" too. What I don't like is that every post in the WoW thread gets so many of them. That completely ruins the value of the like system. You should "like" posts in that thread that are actually thoughtful or make interesting connections, not a certain number before yours to "help preserve the like/post ratio".

If I may, I'd like to share my own perspective on the "like" button. First of all, I respect your opinion and am glad you told us. My own interpretation of the like button has always been either for something that I really liked, or just that I wanted to acknowledge your post (as in, thank you for posting). Apparently, people interpret things differently, and this is my own understanding.

I've given this a lot of thought. Perhaps a compromise might be for the moderators to add an additional button such as maybe a simple checkmark (I don't have a picture, but just a general checkmark), and maybe that could be used as an "acknowledgement" button (for people like myself, that care to use it).

I've been a forum member now for over a year. This is the first and only forum I've ever joined. I have followed the lead from others in liking many posts for various reasons, because that's what I thought we were supposed to do. And, speaking for myself here, I've certainly never, ever, asked or hinted to anyone, for any "likes" as that was the least important thing for me, personally. The happiness I have received from these forums is the great information sharing, humorous posts, and a sense of community and fellowship from my fellow members.

I totally agree with you. I don't understand why the controversy. Has liking multiple posts become a problem? I've always used them as a form of acknowledgement. I have noticed on other threads that certain members receive multiple likes and I suspect it is because of the poster and not so much for what they have posted. To me, that seems worse than "liking" posts because you generally appreciate that they create a sense of comradery. And what is the "value"of the like system? To me it feels like some are trying to control the many. I don't care for that.

That's not a bad idea, actually!

My problem with the likes is that when you like an actual informative post with breaking news about WDW, it has the same value as when you like a post that's one word long.

Maybe if we had different values of likes, "acknowledge", "like", and "love", that problem would be solved. Of course, it would also make the like counts really confusing.

Coincidentally that is the color scheme and make of the buses that I did drive.

Brings a whole different perspective to the term "door to door service", don't it...?! :D ;) :)
I've also been a very literal person. You tell me door to door, that's what you get!
