I guess my grandma got transferred to another hospital last night. My mom and dad went down a little while ago, not sure what my aunt's been doing. My mom texted me about a half hour ago and said she might be having surgery in a couple hours as she has a heart valve blockage and possible internal bleeding in her stomach area.

I suspect I have broken the big toe on my left foot.
Some time yesterday, but not sure how or when.

When we were leaving for our walk yesterday, I was aware that it was hurting, but again, couldn't recall any specific injury.

I've broken enough toes over the years to know that the hospital doesn't do anything for them anymore. Heck, the last time I broke one, they didn't even X-ray it. "What if it's broken?" , I asked. "Oh it's probably broken, we just don't do anything for broken toes." They don't even recommend 'buddy-taping ' them together, as in the past.

On the plus side, I'm not working, so it's not like I have to stand for 8+ hours each day.
Are you sure the Pergola didn't sabotaged your NAP?
Imagine it attacking you in the moment you less expected it.
Sneaky thing.. the pergolas. ;)

How I was on the Fourth of July...

Funnily, I stuffed myself as well on the 4th, but because it was the birthday of an aunt ;)

I'm a little confused here... how does one break a toe and not know it... immediately. Nothing I have ever experienced hurts as much as a toe injury.
Sometimes it is not a full fracture.
Someone could just have an hairline crack... and by moving it got worse until it finally broke down.

It could also only hurt in the first day or so.. then gradually get better. Then it will finally collapse badly (like a broken bone) when the bone gives up after making pressure on the affected area.

Sending prayers. Please keep us posted if you can - I know we are faceless internet imaginary friends but we are all genuinely concerned.

What I was thinking - but said much better!

Today I woke up and felt like I should be getting ready to go to a Disney park. I don't know why, it just felt like I should. So now I'm craving a vacation. I can't believe it's only been around 4 months since I was last there. Seems like forever ago.

I want your life - if a toe injury is the worst pain you've ever experienced.

- I've had two babies.
- Five root canals/crowns.
- Five minor surgeries, including wisdom tooth removal.
- One more-than-minor surgery - hysterectomy and removal of endometriosis.
- And one fairly major gynaecological surgery which involved two surgeons, five procedures, and 4 1/2 hours on the table, 4 days in hospital, a return trip to the hospital, and twice daily nursing care for more than a week.
- I've broken 6 toes, and 4 fingers (3 @ the same time, which required an orthopaedic surgeon to set, and 4 weeks of physio.)

And outside of the hospital, I've never taken anything stronger than Tylenol 3 in my life.

While I was working in the backyard yesterday, I became aware that my toe was throbbing, but so were a whole lot of other parts of me.

It wasn't until later in the evening, once I stopped moving that I looked at it. It was throbbing, red, swollen and warm to the touch. Just like the previous 6 times.

No worries. I'll live. And you'll surely hear more complaints in the future over hangnails and paper cuts.
