Minimum wage here is $11.00. Even with the exchange rate, you'd still make out like a bandit.

But first, you have to learn the Metric system.
I'm actually thinking about applying for a second job, which could potentially pay better (I just know it can't get worse). My mom was going through the store (yes, it's another retail job, but it would be much simpler than what I have now) one day, and the manager was doing checkout and recognized her as the person who ran the school store at the high school. He said they are looking for employees (my mom said he sounded kind of desperate), so he gave her some applications in case she knew anybody looking for a job.

I'd have to talk to my current HR person, though, and see if it would be possible for me to work half the week there, and half the week at the new place. I know a couple of my coworkers do something like this.

It could potentially be better pay, better hours, and I could get more experience.

But it's all just a thought right now. I'm going to talk to our HR person first about how many hours I'm being scheduled for, because if it's a common thing to only get 10 hours a week, I'm going to have to find a second job regardless of anything else.

All of my multi-quotes from this morning are gone. Suffice it to say, I had many witty things to say regarding my water bottle and the coffee maker.

We went to a rescheduled 4th party today. Check out the treats my daughter (a) found online and (b) made herself for the festivities:

We used the leftover chocolate to cover some pretzels (the stupid bag was mostly broken) and arranged them as a flag:

Maybe I'll adopt her. 2nd thought we are done with that college thing

Wow. For a neighboring state that is quite a difference in wages, but I look at the home prices in my area verses yours and I guess there is a wide difference in the cost of living. But still!!!
I just looked up minimum wage for Iowa and Minnesota. Iowa is $7.25, and Minnesota is $5.25. Looks like you guys are the highest around here.

The Federal minimum wage is $7.25, they can go higher but not normally lower except for in a few parameters.
Minnesota is $7.25 aside from a couple of loop holes. We have a loop hole in IL for jobs that are solely for seasonal help.

I'm curious how this year is going to pan out with the Federal Minimum wage. Ours has an escalation clause but given $8.25 it amounts to nickles and dimes to an individual.

What excites me to see is the new executive order that will bar a good chunk of Exempt salaried workers from receiving overtime pay. Depending on how this plays out this could help our young and under-employed financially and restore the middle class. It should also help with the unemployment too as there are so many salaried workers that put in more than 40 hours a week that their employers exempt from overtime. It is to happen in 2015.

2015 could be a great year for our young.
