I don't anymore, but, most of my adult live consisted of placing the AC in the window, either during or just after the first hot day, and a few months later, usually just before the last heat wave, I would take it out and put it away. Gosh, how I miss that! Now I have the drudgery of flipping the switch over from "heat" to "cool".I have no central a/c so I gotta put the window unit in like @Nemo14 and @Goofyernmost and @MOXOMUMD said.
You poor poor man. How can live without lifting a window unit up and down stairs every year?I don't anymore, but, most of my adult live consisted of placing the AC in the window, either during or just after the first hot day, and a few months later, usually just before the last heat wave, I would take it out and put it away. Having lived in the south all my life, I have never seen an Air Conditioner window unit removed except to be replaced immediately.I don't anymore, but, most of my adult live consisted of placing the AC in the window, either during or just after the first hot day, and a few months later, usually just before the last heat wave, I would take it out and put it away. If your weather was anything like ours today, she is going to be regretting that decision. We have one in our bedroom and one in the living room. When the kids were living at home we had one in each of their windows too. We have one for the room my mom will sleep in, but she won't put it on at night.![]()
I had an environmental protection organization do that around here. They had the proper permit, but I still don't get why they send people in the dark looking for donations. It creeps residents out and can't be safe for them either.Three pages behind. But just has someone knock on my door trying to sell me something. At 9 pm. On a Saturday. I called the neighbors and apparently he knocked on random doors. After mine, he walked up the street and around the corner, heading up the hill. On foot. Selling something, nine at night, on foot.
And no ID. But I took note of the company name on his ****y and called them to report it, then called the police. Something isn't right about that. The officer who showed up on our street told me he gets these calls 15 times a week now from salesmen freaking people out by knocking on their door late at night.
I'm kinda shaken by it, really. Who the hell does that?
Well, I can tell you that when you get a week or so of minus 20 weather, the draft through the AC in the window will turn you blue. Up north you cannot leave them in place unless you have spent the equivalent of a central air conditioning unit to insulate it.Having lived in the south all my life, I have never seen an Air Conditioner window unit removed except to be replaced immediately.
I can imagine, just the few days of below freezing days we get around here has made me throw blankets over window units a few times.Well, I can tell you that when you get a week or so of minus 20 weather, the draft through the AC in the window will turn you blue. As I have gotten older I find that it would be impossible for me to do that anymore. I used to haul a 12000 btu AC up and down the stairs with relative ease. Now, I doubt I could even lift it much less carry it up the stairs and there would be a better then even chance that I would kill myself taking it back down. I moved south just in the nick of time. You poor poor man. How can live without lifting a window unit up and down stairs every year?
It is 80 degrees in my bedroom so I think I found my project for next Saturday. Although the weather will probably go back into the 60s when I have free time to put them in.
