Went over to a friend's, played some basketball with a bunch of people (I am not a basketball player, and I know very few rules). Play two rounds of best 2 out of 3, my team won once, the other team won the second time. On the first round, the was a pass to me that was a bit too high, so I jumped for it, landed on the edge of the driveway, tripped over a downspout and had a pretty nice moment while crashing face first into the side of a house. My back bent pretty good, and my wrist did, too, while trying to break the fall. Surprisingly I'm not very scratched up for falling into a brick wall/bed of rocks. But my back is a little sore, not bad enough that I couldn't finish the game and playing a few more. My wrist is okay, as long as I don't turn it far to the right. But the humility of my accident was relieved when my friend took a tumble almost in the exact same location. Only this time he tripped over a big rock and rolled twice into the grass.

So that was my night...

PS- I'm not that good at basketball. I'm decent at defense and rebound because of my height, so that was pretty much my role in the games. I took some shots, and almost made 90% of them, but all were just barely missed. :grumpy:

We have one in our bedroom and one in the living room. When the kids were living at home we had one in each of their windows too. We have one for the room my mom will sleep in, but she won't put it on at night.:banghead:
why not? she gets too cold at night?
I usually put the AC at low temps.. and wrap myself into a taco of blankets if I get cold.

I have sold the hell outta' this place in the last few minutes...!!!!! :joyfull:
Owner will be a HAPPY dude...!!!!!!! :)
A good well done job hu?

I have no central a/c so I gotta put the window unit in like @Nemo14 and @Goofyernmost and @MOXOMUMD said.
I wonder.. do minisplit type air units are not common in the US?
Most houses here have minisplits now vs central units (as they are very wasteful)

only tiny houses use the window ones. But then, we get temps well above 100 in most summer (up to 43C in.. let's say July or September if there is no rain)

You poor poor man. How can live without lifting a window unit up and down stairs every year?

It is 80 degrees in my bedroom so I think I found my project for next Saturday. Although the weather will probably go back into the 60s when I have free time to put them in.
You cant install these units stationary in a wall and insulated?

Well, I can tell you that when you get a week or so of minus 20 weather, the draft through the AC in the window will turn you blue. Up north you cannot leave them in place unless you have spent the equivalent of a central air conditioning unit to insulate it.
I still find this interesting..they do not sell windows with the shape of AC window units that can be sealed?

Also, hilarious how the temp in the states went from "holy hell its freezing!" with tons of snow..
to roasting with tornado storms.

Three pages behind. But just has someone knock on my door trying to sell me something. At 9 pm. On a Saturday. I called the neighbors and apparently he knocked on random doors. After mine, he walked up the street and around the corner, heading up the hill. On foot. Selling something, nine at night, on foot.

And no ID. But I took note of the company name on his ****y and called them to report it, then called the police. Something isn't right about that. The officer who showed up on our street told me he gets these calls 15 times a week now from salesmen freaking people out by knocking on their door late at night.

I'm kinda shaken by it, really. Who the hell does that?
IT would be hilarious if this creepy vendor was selling HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS..

"DID I CREEP YOU? , DID I LOOKED SUSPICIOUS AT NIGHT , ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU TO FEAR FOR YOUR SAFETY? I HAVE THE SOLUTION!"

Btw, it was a home insurance and security company. That's a horrible tactic to sell your product, because all I wanna do now is punch your employee in the face for scaring me.

And I have central air but it's not powerful enough for my house (and landlord isn't interested in replacing it for my comfort) and there's no trees or anything nearby to keep it at least partially in the shade...so it gets very hot in here in the evenings. I have fans and an awesome house vent which usually helps but midday, it makes it hotter. I really don't mind, to be honest. I'm in super ac all day long at work and I need fresh air afterwards.

HAHA.. I KNEW IT!

Isnt it a bit troublesome to set the acs up, seal them use .. then dismount them again and again?
or do houses have special mounts for these ACs?
When you have two feet of snow on the ground and it's 15 below zero, it's better to have that a/c out of your window than have a heating bill out the wazoo because your furnace was on a perpetual constant run. I'm an outdoorsy person and I'd rather have my windows open.

For my a\c unit I built a wooden prop mount for outside and a fitted plywood frame for the window.
