I just have grass. No bushes or flowers. At least until the landlord puts new landscaping in, which is supposed to happen in the next few weeks.

I light some of those tiki torches and hang out on the deck in the summer. I have a tabletop heat lamp too for in the fall. Rest of the backyard is just a place for my dog to do her thing. I would surround the deck with lattice and plant ivy to make it nice and private from my neighbors and hide the postage stamp sized backyard from view, but I'm moving next year so why bother.

When we bought this place, the 4-tiered retaining wall planter bed was resplendant with hostas.
I hate hostas, so I promptly ripped them out and planted myrtle/periwinkle.

On Easter Sunday, when I went crazy cutting down trees, and ripping out shrubs, I decided to rip out the now-tired, unhealthy 12 year old periwinkle.

And what shall I replant in those beds? You guessed it. Hostas.

We always had a patch of it at the farm growing up - I just don't remember it taking over like it has here.

BTW, we have a ton of hostas I'd be happy to send to you!
