Well except the Cowboys. But yeah College football is a religion down here. It's a regional thing...there's a reason that major league sports (outside of the Braves, which I hate) don't catch on well in the south...

I go to a basketball school our football team sucks.
Here in Alabama, people literally worship football. It is all everybody talks about.I don't know what I'd do without football. It's pretty much my life in the fall and winter.

I used to like watching it, but I prefer worshipping somebody else.
High School basketball is huge in Oklahoma and it could get dangerous quick especially in the playoffs I've had some very unpleasant experiences with other fanbases. We were good at a lot of sports, and basketball wasn't one of them. We consistently had people go to state for cross country, track & field, and swimming. Football got to the playoffs, and we had state golfers up until my senior year. In basketball everyone made the playoffs here, but we usually lost early. We were never good at baseball either.
For cross country we had this one girl who consistently won at state, but she ran in her sleep pretty much. And then for track, my senior year, two of the girls tore their ACLs and they were pretty much the two best runners we had. But we still made state with both boys and girls.
High school sports here were pretty successful.
I will watch the movie, not tonight though (and thank you for the reference)...my opinion will likely stay the same...but, I do appreciate the suggestion. I don't like the term "current view" as I don't think it's "current" at all, it's everlasting.
As far as what I bolded, I wholly understand that. Hugs for that comment...
With respect, I will check out that movie, but I doubt I'll see anything I haven't experienced.
I doubt I will see anything anything I haven't experienced myself. Shoved in a locker and locked up inside? Been there done that. Pants pulled down by some snarky guy in the middle of gym class, more than once? Been there, done that. Wedgies in the locker room (and other pranks)? Been there, done that. Locker broken into and stuff stolen? Been there done that. Hat or other clothing stolen and played "keep away" with? Been there, done that. Beat down? Been there, done that. The list goes on...
All you can do is move on, I learned. In the long run, it's really not that important.
And, with respect to bullies, I've found that adults (which I am now) are far more conniving and cruel than anything I've ever experienced in K-12...they bully you in far different and more meaningful (legally) ways.
Hence, why I said it's a life lesson. I don't cry for kids who are bullied, I look at them and think...toughen up. You are surrounded by idiots...
It's a regional thing...there's a reason that major league sports (outside of the Braves, which I hate) don't catch on well in the south...
My aunt moved down to SC a few years back. She seems to encounter that attitude. Here pro sports are a huge deal, except really for basketball.
She's in SC...I'm sorry.
That's all I ask. And I encourage you to talk to your daughter about not caring what other people think...my dad did and the attitude served me well. Just among the teen girl stuff that doesn't go into bullying. It also made me not follow the crowd. Usually I just look at people and think "Moron, you're not worth my time." And trust me, I've dealt with adult bullies. I dealt with one this week and it was horrible, worse than the bullying in middle school. But my father is a lawyer. She is not going to be happy to deal with him. hehe
She actually really loves it. Lives in suburban Charleston. Her kids followed her down there a few years ago. Kind of funny because the reason she moved down there was to get her adult son off of her couch and doing something with his life...and he gets himself straight and follows her down. I looked into going to College of Charleston...did not like the snobby attitude.
No offence meant, but, "My father is a lawyer" isn't going to last you very long...far better you learn to fight your own battles.
She probably lives in N. Charleston (a major suburb) and never goes around Sam Rittenburg unless she has to.
Well except the Cowboys. But yeah College football is a religion down here.
She lives in Ladson.
In this case, he needed to get involved.
Even further out, and not surprising...N. Charleston is a slum, Charleston as a whole is a slum outside of the uber rich who live downtown.
I hate SC.
For your benefit alone.
He sounds like a very good lawyer.
