Oh, I've lived all over that state. Greenville, Columbia, Florence, Sumter, Charelston...

Yep, I don't like it at all...having experienced it.

To each his own. It's good that you've found an area you like where you have a good job.

I like Hilton Head as a vacation spot very much. I'm thinking of going down to visit my aunt the next time my parents go to Hawaii (unless by some miracle my doctor says, "Oh, here's something you can take so you can breath and go back to Hawaii")

Agreed, to each their own.

I won't go back there unless I was paid very much. The people there are terrible, and the state really just deserves to go to hell...as a whole...

I didn't like the snobby attitude that I found in Charleston. Seriously, College of Charleston is not the end all and be all of colleges and Charleston is not the center of the universe.

It is beautiful, though. Part of the reason I was considering it was because I don't have any allergies there and I can go off of my asthma meds entirely. A far cry from my world now. I'd like to move to Florida.

I don't even find it "beautiful"...NC and GA have better seaside offerings.

And, if our concern is your allergies...you've never seen a pine tree spawned "south" come spring (yellow pollen storms)...which is all over SC...

My aunt complains about that. I believe that was in my serum when I had the shots, though, so I'm good. Air quality and weather are my other concerns; I don't do well in cool climates and MD air quality is terrible

Oh, whew boy, lying. Mom always said if you do something and tell me, I'll be angry but I'll get over it. You lie, it's far worse. I'm honest to a fault, though. Sometimes too honest;).

Far better to be honest, and that's the real reason she is in trouble (again)...we (her mom and I) even discussed her not coming to see me as a viable penalty, because she wants it so much...but this is serious...

Oh geez. It is better to be honest. If that's the punishment, yeah, must be pretty serious. And better to teach her that now than when she gets in her teens. That's when you start running into some REAL issues.

My parents had to threaten to pull a Hershey Park trip because of my brother. But it meant also pulling it on me, so I was like, "Lemme give you advice. They are serious. They will do it. You're not accomplishing anything here." Suddenly he stopped the behavior.

If you want to move to SC, power to you. I think it's a craphole of a state, full of dumb people with dumb motives.

And that includes Steven Colbert (who is a SC native)...

My ex would never keep the kid from me (to her credit)...

But, as you indicated, it's a "chicken" game, she doesn't even realize...

Though, if my kid doesn't stay ahead of the pack, I may ask for custody. But, her mom is a smart woman, even though she is not well read.

Oh, it's off the consideration list. I want to go to Florida. I decided there wasn't enough to do in SC to satisfy and Baltimore native whereas in Florida there's more to do. I'm not political, so some of that stuff has less of an effect on me. People in general annoy me, so...

Hmm...if I recall correctly, it's harder to get custody when you're in between states. That's according to my dad at least (I guess he's right seeing as how he does mostly family law and has been for 27 years). But not impossible. It seems like you and your ex are doing a good job putting your daughter first and coparenting rather than arguing all of the time or her leaving you out on major decisions. I've seen some kids get pretty messed up by divorces/separations, but it seems like your daughter is never going to have that issue:)

My parents threatened to pull the August Disney trip on my brother. I looked at them when he wasn't around and said, "Yeah, right." They already purchased the airline ticket and I know them. The look on my mother's face told me I was right. They're just trying to scare him. On that one, I'm not telling him. I don't want to undermine their authority.
