One Little Spark...
I couldn't figure out how to get it to go into desktop, and STAY that way. My Mom and I bought the same laptop, same day. I returned mine, she kept hers. I still can't figure the damn thing out... and she hates it. She kept it because she thought she would get used to it and it would work out well, but obviously it doesn't... I really hate trying to 'fix' it for her, because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm very fluent in Windows, but why the hell did they decide to put a touch-screen ready system onto a non touch screen laptop is beyond me. I think that's why I hated it so much.

Regardless, to each their own :) I'm just over Windows in general, but have to use it daily at work.
Yes. start Menu 8 from Iobit is free and will do what you want (make it function more like win 7.)

When installing, be careful to uncheck the "install system something" junk ware on the last screen, but otherwise it's good stuff.

Also, MS is bringing back the traditional start menu in the next few weeks when it does it's next major release for 8.1

My mom can't figure out that if you plug in the iPod to a computer, it automatically syncs. I had to set it up for automatic syncing for her. You could be my math professor, though. She doesn't know how to go back a page on the internet, so she has to close the entire window and start over.
My mom's ipod touch won't sync with her ancient computer. I had to set up a cloud storage account to move the music between the two.

Really? That's good to know. My aunt is investing in a new computer having been on XP for years and years, and I know she'd find 8 frustrating without the start menu. My parents also hate 8 because of the lack of the start menu, even with Iobit, so if the update is free, it would save them some frustration. I need to set the other laptop to make the desktop appear on startup like I have it on my laptop and Surface.

Well, the interview went well. The guy who interviewed me says he really likes me and that he's interested in me, and that his partner, who met me, also really likes me, but they need to confer to be sure. I should be hearing back on Friday. Hopefully...I'm really excited, it's an amazing internship that pays really well.
