Nineteen students and one adult who was the school's security guard. It's scary crap. Last year when class was letting out a woman came into my daughter's elementary school and slapped around a teacher. (Came to find out this teacher was having an affair with this women's husband) but within the next week ALL schools had the buzz-in systems and cameras installed.

School should be a safe place. When a parent sends their child to school, they should not have to fear for their safety. What's happening in the world is just disturbing.

My sophomore or junior year of high school, the school got a grant that gave them a full-fledged camera system, and buzz-in doors. At first everyone hated the idea (students mainly), because we said we felt like we were ending up in a prison. What really happened: bomb threats stopped (my eighth grade year we had 3 or 4 within a few months time, but that was middle school), and they were able to find out what really happened in fights, etc. One time a woman buzzed in, the secretary let her in, and she walked straight to a bathroom with a backpack and a baseball cap. She then left, without going to the office or anything. Turned out to be nothing, but still a potentially devastating situation.

My daughter told me today she wanted to learn to play drums. :cautious: I told her I would buy her a tambourine. :joyfull:

If it's good enough for Davey Jones:

Only recently, the entire hospital system was upgraded to Windows 7 (not 8 yet), from XP. Can I tell you that so many people hated it, and we nearly had a meltdown trying to adjust to it. (I don't think 7 was ever created with office workers in mind; my guess is that it was created for all kinds of other programs, etc.) The only reason they upgraded was because of what you mentioned above—that the support was not going to be available for XP in the near future. :(
7 is an improvement from Vista, Vista was pretty much awful and slow when it came out.

Also, I'm pretty sure most of your coworkers will be having an stroke if they had windows 8 there.
that OS really is very anti-office.
I've never seen or read any HP and this post made me think you lost your marbles. Especially since I momentarily forgot Daisy was your dog.

Someone who CLAIMS to have Asbergers. It's the Internet. ;) Best not to feed the trolls either way.

Agree!
There is a running joke in the internet regarding people, who defend their horrible behaviours by always pulling the "I have aspergers" excuse. They get mockingly called they have the disease known as "Assburgers".. because they pull the Asperger card as a shield as fast as some dude eats a Mcdonalds.

Yikes.. Reminds me of China.. where there are Rampant Stabbing attacks.. but in the US now?

I used to donate blood all the time - even though it made me squeamish - and then the last 2 times I passed out. And I passed out once a few years ago too. After the pass-outs I felt awful for about 24 hours. I finally realized although I WANT to donate blood, my body doesn't want to part with it.
I'm anemic so no donating for me.

Cancer survivor here.. cannot donate either.

Its interesting how a lot of these attacks either happen in supposedly face environments.

Like Military bases, Schools and Universities and movie theatres

I hate Windows 8. Bought a laptop with that loaded on it, returned it three days later. Got an iPad instead. I've loved it since. If I never buy another Windows product, it'll be too soon. Totally over Windows and their stupid crap software, full of bugs and ticks, and easily hacked and attacked.

I still say Windows owns Norton Anti-virus, they just want to milk an extra $100 out of you every year.

My next PC will be an Apple product.

I'm completely opposite. I hate Apple, and I really don't mind Windows 8. It didn't take me long at all to get used to it. Heck, go into the desktop mode and it's exactly what I've been using my entire life. Really no getting used to for me.

I couldn't figure out how to get it to go into desktop, and STAY that way. My Mom and I bought the same laptop, same day. I returned mine, she kept hers. I still can't figure the damn thing out... and she hates it. She kept it because she thought she would get used to it and it would work out well, but obviously it doesn't... I really hate trying to 'fix' it for her, because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm very fluent in Windows, but why the hell did they decide to put a touch-screen ready system onto a non touch screen laptop is beyond me. I think that's why I hated it so much.

Regardless, to each their own :) I'm just over Windows in general, but have to use it daily at work.

I have installed this application on my in-laws computers so that they don't deal with the Windows 8 garbage. http://www.iobit.com/iobitstartmenu8.php I think I swiped the link from @englanddg at some point when he recommended it to I believe another sageteer.

I like how quickly it starts up. Plus I barely ever need to go into the tile menu. So it doesn't really bother me either.

My mom however can't figure out a DVD player. So I assume the worst for anything new.

My mom can't figure out that if you plug in the iPod to a computer, it automatically syncs. I had to set it up for automatic syncing for her. You could be my math professor, though. She doesn't know how to go back a page on the internet, so she has to close the entire window and start over.
