In other yucky news, I saw my first dang stink bug today.

did it stink?

I like how quickly it starts up. Plus I barely ever need to go into the tile menu. So it doesn't really bother me either.

My mom however can't figure out a DVD player. So I assume the worst for anything new.

agree, performance wise.. windows 8 is really good.
the damn UI in the other hand.. is atrocious for office and "REAL" work.

Yes. start Menu 8 from Iobit is free and will do what you want (make it function more like win 7.)

When installing, be careful to uncheck the "install system something" junk ware on the last screen, but otherwise it's good stuff.

Also, MS is bringing back the traditional start menu in the next few weeks when it does it's next major release for 8.1

Speaking of free stuff, a lot of sites are now adding bloatware installers on their systems.. I really hate download.com for their trashware installer they are forcing users to use.

In other yucky news, I saw my first dang stink bug today.

I HATE stinkbugs. I don't mind most other bugs (except for bees, but my fear of bees borders on the phobic. Anyway...). A few weeks ago I was sitting at the dinner table when a stinkbug fell from the ceiling down on me. Not only did I scream like a little girl, I'm ashamed to admit, I also called my brother over and made him put it outside. And of course, stinkbugs are the one bug my cat will not kill.
