The ice cream you get in a parlor is usually much superior to the truck stuff. Even the Italian Ice truck in my area cannot compare to just driving over to Ritas. So you aren't missing much.
Then again I have never seen a truck offering soft serve and was discouraged from chasing down the truck most of my childhood. So I never had a chance to build a love for them.

Kind of a sad day around here today. We have to be out of here Saturday morning, and it's kind of raining off and on this morning, so I took the time to pack up my clothes this morning. We'll be in Jacksonville for a few days (with no internet) while DH paints a house for a friend of ours, then Roanoke for a couple of days, then, sadly, home. I have one suitcase packed with the mixture of clothes I'll need for the journey home, then the other with summer clothes and whatnot that I wont need again for a few months.

OMG Mr. Softee... We used to go crazy when the truck would come down our block and that jingle would play... I used to get the snow cones and gy Dog ice cream cone, or basically any ice cream cone with that hard shell topping/sprinkles...

Next year you need to add a few weeks to both ends of the trip.
