We have a winter weather warning tonight into tomorrow morning. They say it could be one of the worst storms of the season. :depressed:

Actually it's early tomorrow morning into tomorrow afternoon. Which means classes won't cancel because it likely won't be bad enough by 8am. I'd be okay with an extended weekend, to be honest. Only 4 more weeks until spring break! :D

Since that Atlanta mess, if there's even the threat of ice the next day, they close the schools here. The local university closed for four days within two weeks because there was ice in the parking lots at the school and no way to get rid if it. The streets had cleared, but a lot of the lots are in the shade and were still ice-covered. I guess they didn't want a bunch of inexperienced young people driving on the ice and they didn't want to bring in tons of sand to cover the ice. At least the college students don't have to make-up the days.

Here they figure we all can drive in it (despite it still being dangerous). They didn't cancel classes on days with -40 degree windchill. They cancelled one day when the winds were so bad along with the snow that most roads into town were completely closed. The school district is already having to make up days.

We stayed the weekend in an Ohio State Park Lodge and their indoor heated pool overlooked a huge lake. People were saying it looks so pretty with the snow coming down. In prior years I would have agreed with them. This year I'm burned out on seeing pretty snow. It was awesome to see guys out on the lake ice fishing before climbing into a warm pool though.

So are we, two so far.
Will they tack them on the end of the school term or during your spring break?
I'm not sure what the local school district is doing. I am thankful my daughter is in college and won't have to make the days up since we are heading to the world right after her last final. I hope that if the local system has to make up the days, they do it during spring break because the family who plans to join us has children in the local school district and would have to cancel their trip if they have to make up the days in May.

Our school doesn't get out until June. As for now adding on the snow days, the last day of school is June 13.

You guys must start late or have fewer days off. Our system usually starts the first week of August and gets out the second week of May. When I was a kid, we started the day after Labor Day and got out the by the last Friday in May. We only got two days for Thanksgiving and spring whereas they get a full week for each of those now. Plus, we went back the day after New Years unless it fell on a Friday.

Our system always starts the last week in August and gets out Mid June. The school system only gives 2 days off for Thanksgiving, but there's a full week for spring. They go back the day after New Years unless it falls on a Thursday or Friday. They have a bunch of holidays in the middle of the year, not to mention professional development days. They get out on June 17 unless days have to be added to the end of the year. At this point they've used up their built-in snow days.

But I don't care. My last week is the week of April 28. I love college.

We start the third week of August and get out the second week of June.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
We have yet another problem coming up over the next 6 months and that is the extreme danger of the earth tilting off it's axis due to all the frozen northerners running south to locate in a human friendly climate. :joyfull:

Down here in the Raleigh area they have some schools that are year round schools. They have as much time off as regular schools but they are more often and the system doesn't allow for any snow days. They now have a dilemma. How do they manage to fit in the required number of days necessary to meet the minimum requirement when they have no end of the year to flex with. We are up to 7 days to be made up now. They have started to have school on Saturdays much to the joy of most kids.

Finishing up watching Snakes on a Plane. Have never seen it all the way through before. I think with all the Sharknado talk, I decided to give it a shot. The cable company calls it suspense/drama, I'm callin' it a dramedy.
What's next: Snakenado...? o_O ;)

I've had a lovely day of arguing with the person I live with all damn day because someone's off their meds. Spoiler, it's not me.

The snow isn't helping. There's a nasty looking ice storm headed our way tomorrow afternoon/evening.

I'm so miserable.

My town stopped bothering to plow any snowfall 4 inches and under. Or salt because I swear I hit a patch of ice every time I came to a stop sign driving home from dinner.

And we are operating on normal schedules here.
