Earlier today when I left for school, it was about 48 degrees, no wind. I took the outer shell of my winter coat off and just wore the inner shell with a jacket underneath. Then I had to turn the heat in the car off and open a window because I was getting overheated. The snow started to melt and driving was actually pleasant because I could take back roads again.

I came out of school and it had dropped to 28 degrees and the wind was blowing, so it feels like 15 degrees.:cold:

And for that, I blame Meg.

I ran out to grab something in my car before without a jacket on thinking it was still in the 40s. That was a bad idea. The wind chill numbed me in seconds.

Speaking of bacon (I know it was 2 pages ago, but I just got caught up)....dinner tonight was sweet and spicy bacon wrapped chicken. And it was excellent. Had I known about the bacon discussion, I would have taken a picture before I happily ate all the leftovers....

Cut chicken into strips, season each strip with garlic powder, chili powder, salt and pepper. Wrap each strip in a slice of bacon. Roll each strip in brown sugar (may need to rub some in if it doesn't stick to the bacon). Bake at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Bacon should be somewhat crispy and chicken fully cooked. Easy and delicious!

I heard a rumor that it got warmer today. When I got to my school at 7am, it was 24 degrees. When I left at 5pm it was 24 degrees. Tomorrow it looks like it will be 7 at 7am arrival and 13 at 9pm departure (choral rehearsal followed by boosters meeting...I hate last Tuesday of each month).

Rumor was true.

Choral rehearsal? Ugh. Booster meeting? Bigger ugh.

UW-Madison (better just known as "Wisconsin" for sports) has cancelled all morning classes for tomorrow because of the temps. I doubt mine will because they'll deem it as a "small" campus and not a lot of walking outside. Though it still can take 10 minutes to get from place to place. The farthest I got outside today was letting my dog out the back door, and I poked my head out, and I could definitely tell it was more difficult to breathe than normal. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder. :cold:

We're doing Aida for Spring Musical. I am the 'interim' chorus teacher (for 2 years now) and the drama teacher picked the show. Not that I dislike it, but I just don't like teaching chorus very much. 20 years as band/orchestra director of a solid program with 2 full time instrumental teachers and what is my reward? The choral program falters and I get to take it over....

Yeah I think that weather is when I start looking into moving to California.

You guys don't laugh, but we are suppose to get about 2" of snow Tuesday night.

In the Deep South that is enough to cripple the city. Nobody here is used to dealing with this or has the equipment to deal with this.

What's even worse is that there will be freezing rain before the snow.

Temperatures dipping into the teens.

Ugh. Freezing rain before snow is the worst. You get to slip and fall while you shovel!

Not just the deep south - heck, the Eastern shore of Maryland was off from school all week last week for the 5 inches they got.

I saw that on the news here tonight - be careful out there tomorrow!

I've been in both orchestra and chorus. Though I am way more naturally talented at singing than I am with instruments, I liked orchestra far better. Students take it more seriously, they work harder, they don't expect the music to hit them in the face and be able to play it (most of the time that is...). I only took chorus for a year in high school, but there's no way I would have taken it a second year. What's more is there's no way that an instrumental teacher should be teaching chorus!

Made your Potato Soup recipe tonight, it was awesome! Only thing I changed out was that I reduced the mash a bit before adding the cream.

And, you were right, it took a LOT of salt.

Here's the finished product with sour cream, fresh bacon bits and chives along with a fontana grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough with prosciutto and baked brussel sprouts chopped up and a balsamic drizzle.

I love how you cook up delicious meals for yourself, then "stage" the food in an appetizing presentation, and take a picture to show us! You've posted some delicious dishes in some previous posts as well, and I've gotta tell you—I get such a kick out of this combined culinary/photo shoot hobby of yours. I also just wanna reach into the monitor, and grab the yummy food off your plate!
