So weird - went to sleep with 6 inches of snow on the ground and when I woke up it's gone. We have a one day warm up and then tomorrow is supposed to be the coldest we have EVER been in this region (summer weather to some of you ;) ) @acishere and @Nemo14 did your snow melt too?
High of 50 today with a low of 5. I still had some patches of snow this morning.

I'm worried about flooding plus the freezing temps.

So my cousin decided to join us on our Disney trip on Sunday, not Saturday, so I have been on the phone with WDW-DINE modifying the ADRs:

  • Add two people to the Hoop dee Doo - check
  • Add two people to breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (gets us inside park and closer to Jedi Training sign-up at rope drop) - check
  • REMOVE 2 people from Crystal Palace - issue
Meg really has a racket going. You have to give a credit card guarantee for the number of people in your party, but if you try to remove some people from the reservation the system tries to cancel the reservation. But if they don't show up I will be charged. Good one Meg. I don't mind waiting on hold - it's the music from Soarin'.

Oh look at that - they fixed it before I even finished my post.

23 days to go.

Funny thing is - it took so long to freeze I don't even think these two deep freeze days are going to re-freeze it. We may need to pack up our skates and head north to your yard!!
In another week or so you can move right in. I'll leave a key under the mat.

Because you have shared your sorrow over the separation of you from your daughter over long periods of time, I understand from that post what you are saying. I agree, but, this is a different type of separation, this is one that happens, or should happen, to everyone of us that has had or have children. Our job as a parent is to teach our children to be good people, to be able to survive in a sometimes hostile world and to flourish. At a point in time, just like other instinctively driven animals we know that the time has come to let them go. To make their own mistakes and not have us always there to "fix" their every little problem. We don't stop loving or caring about our children we just instinctively know, that it is time to cut the cord.

Your situation is one that I understand very well. I stayed in a god-awful marriage for years just to avoid losing my girls and still knew that when the time came, I would feel good about setting them out on their own and leaving me with the ability make my own existence of some importance on it's own. Not to be the Father of someone but to be someone with my name as the only connection. By doing what I did, and by others doing what they have done, different but still effective, I and they have managed to maintain that emotional link that has helped me through many years just knowing that they care about me and love me. That's what it's all about in my mind.

Just bring an empty box and they'll be happy.

Recently hubby's friend and his wife came down with a stomach virus. They have a 1 year old that was unaffected. So hubby's friend called his and asked if he could drop off some necessities - gatorade, bottled water, crackers, etc. - since they were too ill to get to a store. I quickly packed a box and sent hubby to their house - with strict instructions to leave the box on the porch and RUN. His friend later texted a picture of their daughter sitting in the box watching TV.

Right now it is -17 and windchills of -44. The windows are covered in ice, and so are the corners of exterior doors.

Speaking of Disney Marketing Magic.. The same week that this atrocious weather set it's ugly foot in this country, Disney releases a Movie titled... FROZEN! Coincidence? I think not.
