When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I remember telling people about a "secret elevator" to a floor that only the janitors could access.
This was the gag at my first high school.
I changed schools in grade 11 however, transferring to a school which really did have one. It was operated by key, and only kids in wheelchairs or crutches were given one.

This was 30 years ago. Since then, all of the city's schools have been retrofitted, or had elevators included in any expansion.

None of the high schools have pools, but there is a world class facility which has 3 Olympic sized pools right next door to one of the schools.

I'll have to ask my kids what the current ruse is.

My sophmore year I was on crutches for two weeks and had to use the elevator with a key. That thing was so slow I got to leave each class ten minutes early to get to the next one on time. It didn't help my locker was on the fourth floor and all the good stuff (lunch, library, study hall) were on the first.

Snow totals just keep getting lower and lower for my area. Driving home from the city should be interesting tonight though.

Also I ran the block from the train to get here on time for a meeting. No one else attending the meeting is here yet.

There's nothing like getting up in the morning and shoveling snow. :grumpy: Our neighbor plowed our drive and a swath to our mailbox with his ATV thank goodness.

Not much here yet - maybe an inch - but it's supposed to pick up tonight and stick around til noon tomorrow so we'll end up with 8 - 12. At least this one is powdery.

Our friends are having an engagement party for their son tonight - guests are supposed to be coming from all over the world including her family from Japan. Should be interesting to see whose flights actually make it in.

No
2-4 inches tonight into tomorrow morning. I don't care as long as by the time my plane is ready to leave, the snow has stopped and everything is clear. And then lows in the single digits tomorrow night, which is really cold for here. Oh well, I'm leaving.

I think that was a rather common thing...we did it at my high schools too (I went to 3)...except the one school in Tacoma I went to that actually DID have a pool (though not on the roof)...

The pool in my high school was on the 1st floor but the room number was 301. Kind of a no brainer to tell people it was on the 3rd floor. We had a second floor, but no elevators (they have since been installed), so kids would just be walking up and down staircases looking for the one that went to floor #3.

I hated that pool. We were required to take swimming as a freshman (I think we discussed this in the Ingall's thraed). It was the 80s. I had big hair. Aquanet + chlorine = big old mess. I hated that pool.

unless you get snowed in
Shouldn't, we're only supposed to get 2-4 inches, and both our parents (I'm going with a friend) have SUVs, so whoever takes us to the airport should not get snowed in. If I didn't have laundry I needed to do I would go stay with my friend since her street gets plowed first. If necessary, we will head out at 5:30 am and snow blow the driveway.
