That brings back a lot of memories - many of them involved listening for the ice to crack...

Too much partying???Oops. I meant to quote you. Yeah...I'm tired.
I love your mom!My mom would always trick students during snowy days where we started school on time. She would tell them we are getting out early because of the roads. It's amazing how gullible people are sometimes.
I have a cousin who's a teacher in a very snowy area, and he tells me that every year he conducts an experiment like that. He tells the kids during first period that they will be getting out early, and tracks how far the rumor has spread at the end of the day by asking all the other teachers if they had heard about it. Usually most of them have.My mom would always trick students during snowy days where we started school on time. She would tell them we are getting out early because of the roads. People who had her for 2 or 3 years still believed her sometimes. By then, if you don't see what she's doing, then there's just no hope.I love your mom!
I was terrified. Those were taken last year on my cousin's lake. That brings back a lot of memories - many of them involved listening for the ice to crack...
Teaching does have its perks.I have a cousin who's a teacher in a very snowy area, and he tells me that every year he conducts an experiment like that. My World Geography teacher freshman year was great at lying. His facial expressions did not change at all, and he got so many people with that. Then he retired the next year, but came back to sub. He would still tell freshmen that he didn't know that they would get out early. My town growing up had the same policy. Only problem was the buses were a little too good at handling the snow and our cars weren't. And my section of town didn't get school buses and was the last part of the town they usually plowed. We went to Jamaica in February, 5 (maybe 6) years ago.
Our Board's policy is that if the buses are canceled, the schools are closed. Period.

We skated on a lot of ponds as kids, but going out on the lake was new for me.
I don't think I'm actually in either of the 2 pics I posted (taking the photos), but I was wearing the other red suit, which is a full flotation suit, and my 3 brothers are wearing flotation pants.
I hope you put some suntan lotion on.Oh wait, here I am. The suit weighed almost as much as I did.

I remember the Blizzard of '77. I was in 2nd grade and we missed a week of school. We went to Jamaica in February, 5 (maybe 6) years ago.
My parents came over and stayed with the boys, who were still in grade school at the time.
Our Board's policy is that if the buses are canceled, the schools are closed. Period.
During our 7 day trip, there were THREE (3) snow days!
I recall 3 snow days my entire school life (K -13) and 2 of them were during the infamous Blizzard of '77.
Are you referencing the sunglasses?I hope you put some suntan lotion on.
No. Our neighbors set off fireworks at midnight. (I was actually asleep. ) Then my daughter feels the need to be up at 7 am.Too much partying???
I was referencing the fact that you are bundled from head to toe.Are you referencing the sunglasses?
You will never see a daytime photo of me without them.
A) They're prescription - I'm blind as a bat.
B) My eyes are very light sensitive.
Funny story (to me, anyways):
A couple of years ago, we were at Disney, headed out to the parks, and were delayed because I couldn't find my glasses. We spent ten minutes searching the room frantically. I finally found them ... ON MY FACE.
I was actually already wearing them.
In my defence, I LIVE in those glasses. The real dummies are hubby and kids; turning the room upside down when all they had to do was look at me.
but FWIW, I wear sunscreen year round....I was referencing the fact that you are bundled from head to toe.
And don't feel bad. We were driving back from Florida a few years back, and my mom's cell phone started ringing, but she couldn't figure out where it was. We would hear it in one place, then all of a sudden it would be in a different place. I kept calling it so we could hear it ring. Turned out it was down her coat sleeve because she had put it there while she was trying to grab something else.
