Don't hold back @Nemo14... let us know what you truly think about winter. I'll bet your feelings will add up to the very reason that I now live in North Carolina instead of Vermont.

I don't miss that at all, although it's nice to have a snow day if you know the night before!
That was the best as a student. Now that I actually have to pay attention to it, even just the little bit I do, it's almost as if I would rather just go to school if it's a two-hour delay or whatnot.

DH will never leave his family up here, so I have to settle for snowbirding.I'll take it.
I realized a snowbird side effect that has me concerned. I just realized it today when I was looking at the extended forecast for this area over the next 10 days. It appears to be a lot colder then normal dropping to a mere 19 degrees one night.:arghh: (you have to understand that 19 degrees will freeze everyone in place around here:cold:) Anyway, what I'm thinking is that all those snowbirds heading south are creating a vacuum draft behind them as they head southward and are pulling that cold air down here with them. This must stop. I think we need to call out the national guard on this. They aren't very busy when it isn't hurricane season. Roadblocks need to be put in place. This is worse then being on my lawn. ;)

I was watching the Wisconsin-South Carolina game today that was being held in Orlando, and it was 65 degrees and raining. It looked like heaven on earth...

We went to Jamaica in February, 5 (maybe 6) years ago.
My parents came over and stayed with the boys, who were still in grade school at the time.

Our Board's policy is that if the buses are canceled, the schools are closed. Period.

During our 7 day trip, there were THREE (3) snow days!
I recall 3 snow days my entire school life (K -13) and 2 of them were during the infamous Blizzard of '77.

Anybody catch the Toronto/Detroit Winter Classic Hockey game today?
That's how we played hockey/skated my whole childhood. There were always 2 or 3 shovels at the side of the rink.

We had so many snow days - but not as many as many schools around us. We probably averaged 2 a year, I'm guessing. But here, the bus company and school district works together to decide if it's safe or not.

My high school hockey team always practiced on the pond in front of the school. It usually involved shoveling off the ice first. Not so much anymore - everyone has to play on a rink.

I grew up in the snowiest part of the state, plus many of our roads were unpaved, so we had a lot of snow days. Of course we were also still going to school at the end of June because of that.

My mom would always trick students during snowy days where we started school on time. She would tell them we are getting out early because of the roads. It's amazing how gullible people are sometimes.
