Where can I go for positive news?

I would get off this forum, for a start. People have a rather scary level of dislike for Olaf statues and paintings of Disney characters in hotel rooms, too much time on their hands to sit and argue online methinks. I've never seen anywhere else with such a rabid hatred of the CEO because he dared add something into the parks they personally didn't like.
Adding things is rarely an issue. The problem happens when things are removed for an inferior replacement. Rat is an example of adding, and no one really took issue with it. TRON is an addition, and while its extremely underwhelming, it is an addition. If you think people are coming here only to bash Disneyworld, you're absolutely mistaken. A majority of people here have love for a place that always took a profit but the reinvestment back in the parks was much greater. They don't even want to invest in their own people.. If you want to see who is doing things right, check out the work being done at the corner of Sand Lake and Universal blvd.

A few years ago, I had brought up the concept that part of the reason for the negativity may be because of the fans themselves, that they may be part of the reason of things wrong with the parks. The thread for that is here: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-problem-with-disney-fans.959112/.

This was in response to a video on the topic by Offhand Disney. It is mentioned in the video that Disney was giving him a platform to talk about the Haunted Mansion. At least a few people here claim that he was bought, which apparently is a bad thing, as it means that his opinions are not his own, which may in reality be critical of the company.

So apparently, it seems that positivity runs the risk of not having your own opinion, which Disney may not like. I'm going to assume that many of the more positive YouTube videos are the same way: being nice to the company because they've bought you, and not having your own opinions, which could very well be negative.

I do agree with his "cycle of disney news" sometimes, but there's a reason why I have stopped watching him and that's because of Disney sponsoring him. I rather watch a somewhat shady youtuber like MickeyViews, where I do feel like the opinions shared are geniune than someone who is getting paid by the mouse.

In other words, news that's negative?

I saw "scam" pop up a few posts back..............

Even though I find hard ticket after-hour events extremely shameful------just a total disgrace-----they are not scams. At the core of a scam is a lie or fraud. Disney is not defrauding partygoers but it is, however, doing a colossal disservice to the guest in the big picture.

I have some positive news to share! DH and I just returned from one week at WDW and conditions were much improved over our last three trips (May 2021, October 2021 and April 2022).

Resort: We stayed at CBR. We requested a room on the first floor near the Skyliner and got what we requested. The room was very clean, unlike last October. We declined housekeeping because we just don't need it and they left plenty of extra towels, toilet paper and tissues under the vanity so we didn't have to call for anything. I know someone was in the room each day because they would leave the entry light on, but we were never disturbed when the occupied sign was out. No knocking on the door on checkout day, even though we left just minutes before 11 am. Resort common areas were well-tended.

CBR food court: This was a huge surprise. We ordered the ham and cheese omelet last October and got something more resembling a crepe with a skimpy portion of burned breakfast potatoes. This time the omelet was completely different - thick, filled with a good amount of ham and cheese and a ton of very well-prepared potatoes. The portion size was large enough for DH and I to split. The food court was immaculate. There were CMs cleaning tables as soon as someone left - in fact, one swooped in and took my half-empty hot sauce packet before I was done with it.

Park cleanliness: They must be hiring a lot more workers to pick up trash because the parks were noticeably cleaner than our last few visits. Workers were picking up trash from walkways and quick service restaurants seemed to have enough staff. Most of the larger bathrooms had someone stationed in there keeping up with things - haven't seen that in quite awhile. No overflowing trash cans, even Sunday night at Epcot when it was packed with food and wine guests.

Crowding and rides: We didn't experience any rides being delayed or broken down, which was a big change over the last two visits. We always visit during less crowded times of the year so I can't speak to crowds at other times. I needed to take frequent breaks and was always able to find a place to sit and rest a few minutes.

Table service restaurants: We went to Jaleo, Hollywood Brown Derby, Boma, Cali Grill, Yak and Yeti, Topolino's, and the Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining. Table service at WDW is what it is - we didn't notice too much of a change here as far as staffing or menu variety. The manager at Topolino's stopped by and when I asked him if the patio bar was open, he gave us an earful about being unable to hire sufficient quality staff members.

Parking at resorts: Not an issue at all. Most guards checked for dining reservations; the one at Boma just asked to see ID. When we went for dinner at Cali Grill, I asked if we should valet if we wanted to take the monorail and make a couple of stops, then go back to Top of the World Lounge at the end of the evening. He said to save the money and not worry about parking the car.

Water park: Typhoon Lagoon was much cleaner than on our last visit, bathrooms included.

Fairly recent improvements: There are a few things that, in my opinion, have actually improved the WDW experience over the past few years. Mobile ordering has made it much, much easier to find a table at quick service restaurants. The demise of bag searches is much appreciated. The Skyliner is an exceptional way to get to the parks it services. I like the waitlist at Nomad Lounge instead of having to hover around and try to find a table.

Sorry if this turned into more of a trip report. I do have things to say about Genie+, park reservations, etc. but there are dedicated threads for that.

You're obviously just a shill for Disney. ;)

I personally think there's a lot of negativity here, and while a lot of that is justified, granted, I feel it gets really old really fast. We are all Disney fans in my family, and we are as upset as anyone can get about what the powers that be are doing to the company. And yet, whenever I tell my family about it, including my mother, they just will say, "Oh, well, there's nothing we can do about it." I was criticized of often being upset and not looking for happier news sometimes. That's why I would like to ask, is there any place I can go for positive news on Disney, where things are not always criticism every which way you look?
Inside your own head.

Sorry, but there isn’t much to be positive about at all lately with the Disney company, so you can see why so many fans are upset and ‘negative.’ I struggle with it too…they’ve done so much lately to shoot themselves in the Foot…and I wish we’d actually have more to be positive about…but…I mean…look at D23 this year…look at where WDW currently is…

Announcer: "You just read 10000 negative posts on this forum. What are you going to do now?"
Me: "I am going to Disney World!........... I mean, IF, if I can get a park pass reservation"

I've been to D23, and while it was not exactly spectacular, it wasn't terrible either.

This year? I guess "terrible" is relative but blue sky plans, especially now have an awful track record. There was nothing to get excited about.
I don't know, I thought Toontown looked exciting. Even the model of Tiana's Bayou Adventure looked pretty good. I don't really have any objections about it in Disneyland, given its proximity to New Orleans Square.
