Re: the ramp - do the ramp truthers have a solution on how to accomplish a ramp entry while not reducing capacity from 50 cockpits at a time to 7 or even 1?
I am not an imagineer but it does not mean it can not be done. it is obvious they made the chess room bigger than it would be in the falcon out front and given how hondo has added extra seats and monitors outside the pitt with security doors that were never there before in any of the films they clearly could have made adjustments to add a ramp that would work and blame the change on hondo while still respecting the original way people have always entered the falcon. but this is the same imagineering team that created pixar pier so maybe i am giving them too much credit in blind faith in what they can do.

I really like this observation from Robert Niles at Theme Park Insider (and this is from February):

Imagine visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter without Harry Potter, and instead of visiting Hogwarts, you ended up in some other wizarding high school's castle that you'd never heard of before. That's Galaxy's Edge.

Bingo.

There were a lot of people who told Lucasfilm Story Group this exact thing years ago, and they wouldn't listen. But they had just come off of The Force Awakens and they had all the political capital at the moment in the company... my how times have changed.

This holds no water. He’s acting as if they built generic spaceships there too, and that there isn’t the holy grail of all Star Wars locations: the Millennium Falcon.

Do you really think that if they tore down the giant petrified trees, and ripped out and replaced the green real trees with piles of desert sand, and put a “Mos Eisley“ sign above the cantina, that suddenly thousands will show up in droves?

Harry Potter’s world is very ‘building’ centric. Hagrid’s Hut, Ministry of Magic, Shrieking Shack, 12 Grimwald Place, etc. these are all places that can be re-created more or less realistically in the theme park setting.

Star Wars jumps from planet to planet. Not only is this difficult to re-create in a theme park, but it is also not the most important part of Star Wars. I’d rather be on the Millennium Falcon than be on Besbin. I’d rather be at a woodsy rebel base that I’ve never heard of, than at a jokey “Look at all this white concrete pretending to be ice” fake Hoth. I’d rather that a large ride (which takes me to a star destroyer) be hidden behind unique rock work than WDI make some vain attempt at a forced perspective Death Star.

Anyone who is making these coy arguments about how they should have built the greatest hits of the Star Wars planets as a theme park just isn’t thinking hard enough.

Bingo! Batuu is the best part of Galaxy's Edge. Give it some more trees, a bit more color, and some more things to do, Galaxy's Edge is suddenly desirable despite never being in the films.

I would gladly take Endor with an Ewok village speedbike coaster, a Falcon walkthrough and ROTR over Batuu. I’d be willing to sacrifice the cantina that sits 30 people, the droid experience and Savis- although Disney wouldn’t. Although they could probably make the latter two work.

I’ve dreamt of an Endor speeder bike coaster all my life. Designed one in elementary school. Was roundly mocked by peers for my interest in designing parks. I still see amazing potential in that concept especially considering the success of Tron and Hagrid.

But if you think the cries for “why didn’t they just build Tatooine” are strong now, they would’ve been unimaginable if you only get to walk around Endor and the Ewok village (and Ewoks are still derided by many original trilogy fans as being a merchandising cash grab concept).

Besides, speeder bikes could one day be added to Batuu.

They used British sci-fi tech. It's bigger on the inside.

So you think people complaining about not getting a Star Wars planet from the movies and not getting enough from the original trilogy would complain more if they got a planet from the original trilogy?

To be clear my problem with Batuu has nothing to do with the fact it’s not heavy on the original trilogy or somewhere we ve seen in the movies. I just think Endor is a better concept for a theme park.

Wait times are slowly trending upward the last few days. Do not let others convince you otherwise. Just look on your own throughout each day. It will be overcrowded again in no time.
