What’s the downside again?

Maybe the demand isn’t nearly as high as most of us here in the bubble assumed it would be??

...don’t worry though, the Florida crowd will prove TWDC’s faith in the customers stupidity valid once again...

I posted in one of the other threads but the waits right now are very low. What's going on when SM is 25 min and RSR is 35.

Millennials are the generation born between 1980-2000: Welcome to the club! Says this old (83) Millenniall. We haven’t yet named 2000-2020 yet.
I didn't even know who Nsync was until a couple years ago. Don't lump me in with you old bags! I'm hip and young and cool!

The weirdest thing is crowds are "so much lower than expected" and yet Disney "vastly underestimated demand for Galaxy's Edge merchandise."

How could Disney have stocked the shelves with the amounts of merch that they did ...if they ALSO expected 2x or 5x the crowds that are coming?

Someone's math is way off.

Because those that have made the trek are the hardcore Star Wars fans who have spent the gdp of small countries on personal collections of unneeded junk.

That will level off

Wow, so at the moment, longest wait time at DLR...

Grizzly River Run: 55 min
Target Run and RSR: 45 min
ALL other major E-tickets are showing 25 or less

Edit to add, for clarity: NOT COMPLAINING! These wait times are incredible. Personally, I find I tend to spend more when things get like this, since I'm having a good time getting to enjoy the park and the rides. When it's packed to the gills crowded, I will often go back to the hotel and chill, and NOT spend $$$.

I really like this observation from Robert Niles at Theme Park Insider (and this is from February):

Imagine visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter without Harry Potter, and instead of visiting Hogwarts, you ended up in some other wizarding high school's castle that you'd never heard of before. That's Galaxy's Edge.

Bingo.

Baloney. If they had built a Ilvermorny or Beauxbatons or Uagadou and had put as much care into it as they did Hogwarts, it would be every bit as successful. People would have a playground to dream up adventures of their own.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.... but I do disagree. Hardcore fans would still "dream up adventures of their own..." Wait, no. No they wouldn't. Nobody does that at theme parks. Ever. People have fun with their family and enjoy the tales the park tells them. They don't make up their own fictional adventures. But one way or another, a non-Hogwarts wouldn't be as instantly recognizable and appealing to the GP. That's why they modeled it after the movie sets and not the books.

It's almost 3PM on a Friday after Disney effectively cut ticket prices by more than 50%. The news has gotten out that Disneyland isn't crowded like everyone expected. And how has all of this affected the crowd situation?

"Ghost Town"

The latest is that Disneyland project leads on Rise of the Resistance were ordered in a meeting this morning to take every step to increase the rate of completion while at the same time watching every penny spent above the allocated funds. So far no such demands have been placed on WDW project completion, but the situation is beginning to actually cause real distress within the upper levels of The Walt Disney Company, and not just the Parks segment. The videos and pictures of an empty Disneyland are hitting the web, and that's a real PR nightmare.
