Whats a more impressive nighttime show: Fantasmic Or Illuminations

Even if you're bored during that, brief, part, I can't imagine actually leaving and not finishing the show. If you don't like it, don't watch it again. That's just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

I work with 9 year olds with longer attention spans.

Well it was NYE and they had to drive to Tampa afterwards, but I was pretty perplexed myself. But I don't think it was a coincidence that it happened right in the middle of the globe sequence either. Again, I did tell them that it did get much better, but their mind was made up. I also forgot to mention that one of them saw Fantasmic a few years before and thought it was one of the most impressive things he has ever seen. And overall liked MGM much more than Epcot.

Walked Out

How could anyone ever walkout on IROE? Even the old show with the globe with the baby crawling on it was outstanding. Illuminations is about getting a good vantage point as I pointed out in my earlier post. Just get to the front of Showcase Plaza! That's the hard part with kids though. I will typically wait 45-60 minutes just to get to the front of the plaza. Time enough for 2 margs from San Miguel Inn. :hammer:

I understand it from your friends more than the other family, but is their drive really going to be delayed that much by watching the last few minutes of the show?

Well if you saw the amount of people in that place and the amount of cars in the parking lot, I would say they probably saved about an hour overall because of the length of the rest of the show and the amount of time it would have taken to get out of the lot from their spot. Still, I was disappointed they left. However the trip down there was for the ball game and going to Disney was just an added thing for them (and even us really).

Look how ed you are when people don't buy your favorite show. What a great attitude.

Wrong interpretation. I'm not ed at all, nor do I think someone has a problem if they don't like IllumiNations. Notice how many people don't like it in here. Do you have a problem with them?

No, I just think walking out on a show is simply ridiculous. When did I say I was angry? People that walk into walls, stick their fingers into light sockets or pay too much for car insurance don't make me angry, I just think that what they do is pretty silly.

Illuminations

They are all worth making the effort. Illuminations, Fantasmic, Wishes!
That order. If you can only see one.
I have seen young kids scream and cry ,escorted off by parents during Fantasmic with the fire and witch scene.

Perfect way to put it. You may not like any or all of them, but they're all worth the effort. Stay, watch the whole thing, if you don't like it never see it again.

Hi there, for me fantasmic is the better of the two. When the boat comes towards the end with all the characters waving I don't think you can beat that feeling. Looking around and seeing the kids all smiling and waving it's just 'fantasmic' :D

Why does something have to have animated characters to be "DISNEY"? I think EPCOT is about as "DISNEY" as you can get too, just in a different way. I imagine everyone would agree that The Haunted Mansion is "DISNEY", no Mickey in there either.

Except of course for the dining room table...and with the spectre in the crypt at the end....;)

You call people ridiculous, silly, and having shorter attention spans just because people walk out during your illumination show???? I call that the typical ignorance and arrogance of Disney fan who think everybody should stay until their favorite show is over even you don't like it. Who do you think you are to tell people to stay?

Hey, I can't tell you you have to say. You also can't expect me to think it's a bright move. I don't think walking out of a movie is too smart, either, but it's a multiple hour investment, not 15 minutes.

And why's it have to be my favorite show? I'd say you'd be crazy for walking out on Fantasmic, too.

The pre-show music and torches of Illuminations are better than any part of Fantasmic. Illuminations is unlike any other fire/explosion/light/boomy type show you'll ever see. Fantasmic put me to sleep the first time I saw it and I haven't been back since. This is just my opinion, I know plenty of people that love Fantasmic for some reason that eludes me to this day.

To draw direct comparisons between the 2 shows is basically impossible as they are completely different types of shows.

I haven't had the urge to see Disney World's Fantasmic! since 2000, the first (and only) time I saw it. While I like the stadium seating, it can't hold a candle to Disneyland's, therefore I feel no need to see a second rate version of it while I'm in Florida. So, I will definitely have to say I prefer Reflections of Earth (which I saw 3 times on my last trip) and Wishes (twice) to WDW's Fantasmic (zippo). Personally, I can't get ROE's soundtrack out of my head, and back when I wasn't such a lazy bum, I used to use it for inspirational jogging music.
I will have to say, though, that if I'd never seen the Disneyland version, I might have a different opinion of Disney-MGM's Fantasmic. Ignoring the fact that they use the mist screens WAAAAAY too much, and that villain screaming thing goes on far too long, it's a decent show. I might rank it higher than Wishes. I might even rank it higher than Illuminations...but I doubt it.
To sum up: Disneyland's Fantasmic>ROE>Wishes>Disney-MGM's Fantasmic

I guess if you make a dintinction between walking out in the middle of a show like IllumiNations vs something like a BroadWay show, fine. I don't see the distinction, though, people have put alot of hard work into the show, it's inconsiderate to walk out in the middle.

ROE soundtrack is always one of the 6 discs in the changer in my car, and I listen to the first couple minutes and the last couple minutes during a last burst on the eliptical, the middle for my cool down on occasion.

I must agree with everyone else.

Fantasmic is an awesome show (and btw, my favorite). However, Illuminations is more impressive. Seeing the fireworks burst above the lagoon is really amazing.
