What will Disney announce for Disney World at the 2022 D23 expo?

Trust me, this is a blessing in disguise.

No one, especially no one under 40 inches should be subjected to such a heinous attraction.
This is my problem when people hype up Universal becoming better than Disney. They only talk about the successes and completely ignore the duds that Universal has done.

Based on Chappie's new look, I'm expecting a new line of Bob's Beard Care products. "You'll feel like the Board of Directors just gave you a contract extension!™"

IOA and UO are a step above Six Flags. They are fun. We do both IOA and USO in one day (skip Seuss/Toon). But they don't have the nostaglia or level of detail as WDW. The queue theming alone shows the difference.
The worst ride Universal has added in the past few decades is Fast and Furious... The only thing redeemable is the queue is pretty neat..

You're 100% wrong about queue theming though.. Every single attraction good or bad they have added in recent memory have great queues. Maybe bourne is a little lacking but even the snooze that Kong is has a great queue.

Maybe for newer stuff. I recall the queues just used generic poles and rope or metal. Not themed to be part of the ride. You can distinctly tell you are at Universal, and that it's a downgrade in the details.

I mean Potter is obviously incredibly well done.

But I also hate Potter so it's no draw for me.
Potter is well done overall. I will give them that. The rides are ok, and I preferred Dueling Dragons.

Going back to 2000, MIB is showing its age in the queue, but it’s not horrific. There was at least effort. Springfield is a mixed bag, but Dumbo is the only spinner with significant theming, imo (Carpets has shade that doubles as theme, I guess). Rip Ride Rockit is bland for theme, very Cedar Fair. But, after that, everything else has effort behind it. At least as much (often more) as Slinky Dog and Alien Swirling Saucers.

That's what I'm hoping! Wasn't Nintendo initially rumored to replace Toon Lagoon before the plans for EU were finalized? That area in particular seems like a shoe-in for a retheme.
Zelda was going to replace Lost Continent.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with the IP, but that area looks very shabby. The attractions are also pretty awful IMO, Cat in the Hat almost comically so. To me it's the perfect example of a themed area only children can enjoy, as opposed to an area like Storybook Circus that was made with children in mind but has visual appeal for people of all ages. I like the idea of a Seuss-themed land in theory, but I don't like the execution at all.
The land that’s mostly some old tents and new fake tents is your example of a land with visual appeal for all ages?

Toon Lagoon has the opposite problem. Some great attractions like you said, but the IP isn't relevant for modern kids.
Dr. Seuss widow would disagree with you about it's execution. Also the Cat in the Hat Ride would to have a small thrill element where it spun frequently that was later removed.

While Universal lacks in theming in some areas, they do a good job in balancing thrills and rides the whole family can ride. The only unfortunate thing is how many Disney fans won't give them a chance due not liking a lot of the IP. Whatever happened to enjoying a ride regardless of IP. Forbidden Journey is on the level of a Disney attraction. I'm not into Potter at all but still loved the attraction.

Wait what? Name the rides at Universal that are NOT thrill rides and NOT kiddie rides.

1. Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl
2. Men in Black
3. Storm Force Accelatron

So two flat rides and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin with a different theme.

Maybe disney can trade the alien franchise plus cash to acquire Marvel character rights...the universal could retheme their IOA marvel land I to an Alien themed land....I'd dig that. You could remake Spiderman into a really scary alien ride imo or just start fresh of course.

This thread about what will be announced at D23 for WDW has turned into a Universal discussion.

It's OK, they probably won't be any significant WDW announcements, just things like:
"We will try to complete Moana before the end of 2023
"We will try to complete TRON by fall 2023"
"We will try to reopen the WDW RR as soon as we get around to it"
Don’t forget Woody’s Roundup Regal Eagle Smokefest: an homage to Flametrees everywhere (I think that’s what it’s called). That should open fiscal Q3 2023.

I really hope to be wrong. Maybe they’ll turn the green light back on for Poppins and the MK theater, announce a replacement for Primeval Whirl, and preview all of the new shows replacing aged ones at HS. I’m just not expecting a single one of those things, or much of anything noteworthy.

*If we’re lucky, we’ll find out who’s to be on the stern of Wish’s new sister.

1. 40 inch height requirement and you have to be able to comfortably wear 3D glasses
2. 40 inch height requirement and you have to be able to comfortably wear 3D glasses
3. 40 inch height requirement
4. 34 inch height requirement and I'd still call it a kiddie ride

I'll concede that those are "family rides" but they're absolutely not "rides for the whole family."
