What WDW resort would you never stay at and why?

I don't know about never, but I'd be hesitant to stay at a moderate. The whole internal bus system stresses me out. A whole separate commute before your commute to the park. A whole separate commute to get coffee in the morning. No thanks.

POFQ is smaller than Pop.

It's been 10 years since I stayed at a mod, but do they all have "internal bus systems?" Because of the 3 times I've stayed at Riverside (2 times when it was still Dixie Landings), we didn't have to get on a bus to get on a bus; the buses going to theme parks just made multiple bus stops within the resort. We were always close to a bus stop. One trip we were far from the building, that was a pain, but the others, it was like a 5 minute walk, and really no walk to speak of to get to a bus stop. Waiting for the bus to get there was an ordeal at times, but not getting to a stop.

To be honest with you, I don't know. I've never actually stayed in a mod because just looking at the maps stresses me out :) It seems there are multiple bus stops all throughout the resorts which add to the overall commute time to the parks. And I've read trip reports on here where people have to take buses to get to the food court, or just give up on getting a coffee in the morning because the commute is too time consuming.

I can't speak for everyone, and again, my last trip to a mod was in 2005. But I didn't find it unpleasant at all, and no walk to the main building seemed all that long (but I work in NYC, so I'm used to walking fast so you don't get trampled haha). But honestly, there are both deluxe/villa resorts that can have as long a walk; I once stayed at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, about as far to the end of the DVC building as possible, it was a trek just to get to the main part of that building, plus then the walk to get to the main building. BLT has some far off rooms, and you've got a long ride if you're staying at Kidani Village and want a QS breakfast at the Mara at AKL.

And as Lucky said, POFQ is much more compact that the other mods, and most of the values.

I won't stay at any of the Value resorts as the rooms are way to small and the theming isn't my taste. Also don't care for the Animal Kingdom Lodge (not a fan of the African theme) and Wilderness Lodge as the rooms are to small for a deluxe.

I would have to say the Contemporary. I think the lobby is ugly, the middle concourse is ugly stuck in a 1990's mall theme,,(use to be a posh hotel very nice and upscale) they have let it go and basically taken the Disney out of the theming and rooms, way too modern and lacks a Disney touch, or what use to be the Disney feeling. And the price is just outrageous for what it is anymore.

Not a fan of Coronado Springs. Just not into the SouthWest theme. Also, as mentioned above, not Fort Wilderness, just not into camping, either. (on the other hand, if either of these were the ONLY way to get to WDW, I'd be right there!

Upon further reflection, there are others that do not excite me. Not a Boardwalk fan. Not really an Animal Kingdom Lodge fan. Not a fan of Port Orleans. Mostly in all of these, the theme just doesn't appeal to me. But again, if I was offered a trip to ANYWHERE in the WDW, I'm there!

I've stayed in the CR, Poly, GF, golf resort, WL, Dixie landings, dolphin, boardwalk, and CBR. Our next trip will be AKL. I would stay in any of the resorts to go to wdw. As a kid I didn't like the golf resort but that is now a moot point. (The only competition was CR and poly and both were much nicer!)

I guess I avoid the values. I don't love moderates. The reason for both is I prefer rooms on an interior hallway. I also prefer hotels that allow you to walk to a park or two. We'll see what we think of AKL AS it is our of the way, but we have a car.

There are two I'd absolutely not want to stay at. Coronado Springs and the Contemporary. The Contemporary seemed cold and sterile when I visited it; Coronado Springs reminds me too much of being at home-this part of Texas, subtropical with Palm trees and more Mexican than American. In addition to those two, I'd only stay at ASMusic if my other choice was to stay home-I stayed there once and hated it. However, I stayed at AS Sports one trip and it was fine.

I don't think I'll ever stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, or the Fort Wilderness Cabins. I don't like the African theme of AKL, and I have too many bad memories of camp to stay at a FW cabin :arghh:
