there nestled behind test track on the walkway to the mexico pavillion, there is what im assuming was a restaurant at one time in the past. what was it and are they going to do anything with it? would be a nice place to eat.:shrug:

Trust me you aren't missing much. It was a CS restaurant serving the typical CS fare. It is used for special events during F&W and F&G. Just attend one of those events and prepare to be underwhelmed.

Go eat at Electric Umbrella. It's basically the same food in a different location. As Master Yoda said, you aren't missing much. It was basic CS fare. I remember The Odyssey well.

As a kid I remember there being several counter service restaurants in Future World, including the Oddyssey, but now the only one I notice is the Electric Umbrella. I guess they wisely decided that you don't need so many restaurants in Future World when every single Country in World Showcase has one. Many countries offer both table service and counter service.

Don't forget The Land pavillion. Though I'm not necessarily happy about the redesign of the sitting section. They removed waaaaaaay more of that then they should have. The food selection is great though. It used to be really crowded before, now it can be next to impossible to find a table to sit at.

Oh, how I miss eating at the Odyssey. It was the perfect place to grab a bite, as most one-day guests try to do FW in the morning and WS right after lunch.

Now someone correct me, but was the Odyssey less shrouded by plants when it was open to the public?

I think they have stopped having the special events during F&W and F&G at The Odyssey. I know for F&W all the wine tasting and such were held at The Festival Center, AKA WOL.

I guess they could remodel or something and make it some priority seating place but what would they theme it to be? future or world? they could make it some sort of planet hollywood type or hard rock cafe type since its right next to test track or maybe some sort of racing type restaurant

Not likely. The place is quite profitable being used solely as special event space not to mention that Epcot has more restaurants than any other park at WDW.

Futureworld needs more quick eating options.... Electric Umbrella is a disaster at meal times in the summer. With Pure and Simple and Sunrise Terrace... I mean Piazza Pasta gone Odyssey would do very well at peak times to take the pressure off.

Events should work around paying guests, not paying corporations. Although sadly events have been hit by mass layoffs too over the past few days.
