What type of new resort would you like?

As deluxe goes, I know there is an Asian-themed resort rumor that circulates every so often that sounds like it could be a great hotel concept.

As far as moderate goes, though I have no thoughts on theme, I think that it shouldn't be a carbon copy of CBR or CS. Can a moderate resort be fully enclosed or does that feature automatically bump it up to deluxe? Can't we have a happy medium?

And for value resorts, I'd like to see them finish what they've started before going on to something else (ahem .. POP .. :lookaroun )

But though it's fun to think about and dream up ideas, I don't think anyone should look forward to another resort in the near future, as WDW has plenty to meet demand right now

i just read your post after i sent mine, not surprised about the Asian concept...it would be a great theme

Resort

I would love to see a Mark Twain / Huck Finn themed resort. Instead of a pool they could have a river that you can float on rafts and swim along the banks. The restaurant could have old fashioned southern food like the things you would have found cooked in homes along the Mississippi.

They did kind of have that. It is now called Port Orleans Riverside.

I would like to see an "under the sea" style resort. One that brought back hyrdrolaters, and aquarium dining. Pools would be lavishly themed with Massive ships and caverns. The inside of the resort could be atlantis looking with a huge single skylight at the top of the lobby resembling the sun way above the surface. This is just something that I think would be very unique (although Atlantis in the Bahamas exists) and appealing to many guests.

Well, they could finish the Pop Century Resort......

But then an Asian themed hotel would be neat, either Japanese or Thailand inspired.

Or a Wild West themed hotel. It could be like a old miners towns, and there could be a rodeo or wild west show like Buffalo Bill's. Might be a little close to Fort Wilderness theme, but it still might be neat.

Yes, like someone else mentioned, it sounds like POR/Dixie Landings. Although it would be a neat idea to turn River Country into another Stormalong Bay!

I would love to see the Asian theme as well. I'm picturing zen gardens, beatiful Asian plants, and asian bungalows arranged around ponds and moss gardens. For layout, I'd like to see it like POR... one of the best layouts I think because things are kept quiet on the grounds. I'd love to see it moderately priced, but I wouldn't be surprised with zen/moss garden upkeep if it were a deluxe resort.

I've been thinking about that Medieval themed resort, and I guess it depends on how the buildings are laid out. Would it be a Port Orleans Riverside style, where the rooms are scattered out over the grounds in various "mansion" style buildings? Or would it be more like the Wilderness lodge, where all the rooms are in one building?

If the former, then as I said, you could have the main building to resemble the Lord's Manor house (or perhaps the local church), and have the various hotel room buildings to resemble the peasant houses.

If the later, then perhaps the building could look like a Castle, with the feature pool being the "moat" that surrounds the castle. The pool, therefore, would circle the whole building, with "drawbridges" over the pool in four different places, for people to cross the pool into the building. Of course, it may pose a problem to have people walking from the parking lot, over the "moat" pool, to get into the building to check in. So maybe the check in/gift shop/restaraunt building should look like the local church or something, then have the hotel room building look like the castle with the "moat" pool.

Just a few thoughts...not sure if any of them would work.

Why is it that the cool thread's always die so quickly?

I guess I just have bad taste in what constitutes a cool thread! :brick:

I like this idea! Good one. Really would be a cool idea to be undersea. I have to agree with everyone else about an Asian style or Middle eastern resort.

I have always wondered about a Australian resort or Indian (India) resort.

I thought a Parisian style resort would be nice or even a Egyptian resort.

I also thought it would be cool to do a Disney World Hotel. Where each building is a different country or continent. Or, they could take themes for the theme parks and make each building comprise itself from rides.

Just some random thoughts; cool thread though!

Hmmm... hotel and resort design is what I'm wanting to do with my life. So far, all of the ideas sound pretty good.

The Asian is probably my favorite (I've brainstormed ideas for this before and for it to work best it would almost have to be deluxe or DVC, sorry haha).

The Paris idea is also a great one! Actually, just French in general would work well too. You could have the Paris themed area then the French chateaus as well.

I had never really thought of the Medieval idea before. I like it. It has great potential actually. However, like you said, I'm not so sure about the "moat pool". Hm... it could be a deluxe shaped into a huge castle. However, I guess the main question with the resort is Reality or Fantasy? A truely-historic themed resort would be very harsh in many aspects, but the fantasy theme could make it too fake. I don't know, it could work both ways though.

An idea I'd like to throw out is possibly a largly themed value. Actually, this idea could fit any price range. It could be called the New York Towers resort or something. Basically, it would just be a few "skyscraper" buildings for the guest rooms. The resort could re-create Times Square, Central Park, etc... there could be a forced perspective Statue of Liberty (like the Eiffel Tower in WS). What do you all think???

I would just like to see the original resorts (Ventetian, Persian & Asian) built along the Seven Seas lagoon monorail line. The plans were made but never built. They probably just need some updating.

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
Atlantis, without the casino or high rise.

Or a British resort, ________ poor service, everything is over priced and the theme is poorly maintained edwardian.

A Hollywood (not Tower) Hotel bordering MGM devoted to the glitz and glamour of showbiz. I know, maybe too similar to ASMovies, but it would be Hollywood and showbiz in particular, rather than specific films. I'm thinking a moderate, maybe? :)
