What Ride should they make a film about?

Not a ride or attraction per se, but I thought that Adventurer's Club had potential to be a movie. Something Goonies-esque, kids finding, and then trying to save, a dilapidated Adventurer's Club still inhabited by the spirits of some of its most ardent members. And the characters we normally see in the AC would be the spirits, still bickering amongst each other, still wrapped up in decades-old arguments and love triangles, and played not by big stars but by funny, older character actors, like Charles Kimborough (Jim Dial from Murphy Brown) or Stephen Collins (from 7th. Heaven and once upon a time in Tales From the Gold Monkey) as the pompous flyboy, Dianne Weist or Carrie Fisher as the club President, William H. Macy as the world's oldest boy scout, Jon Lovitz as the butler, and Morgan Fairchild as the maid. yeah. that's the ticket.

Not a ride, but, still very deserving of having its story told:

After the success of POTC, POTC2 and POTC3, what ride should they base a film on next? (I know Haunted Mansion was not very succesful)

But any thoughts on potential films?

None. Because then they would turn around and ruin the old ride by re-making it based on the film...like they did with POTC.

Also, did anyone mention Mission to Mars with Harlan Williams?

I Think Big Thunder has the most potential to be an interesting movie, even though I don't usually like Westerns. Otherwise I'd say they should make a movie about the family who lived inside the Swiss family treehouse, but they beat me to that one before I was even born, plus they are making a re-make.
Harlan Williams starred in the Disney film ROCKETMAN.

I must admit that I don't keep up with Disney movie releases the same way I do with theme park stuff. I was in the Disney DVD section of Best Buy the other day and noticed a cartoon called "Dinosaur" that seemed to be using the same or similar font to the ride Dinosaur in AK. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does this movie have anything to do with the ride? I don't ever remember hearing about "Dinosaur" in theaters so it was probably straight to DVD.
:ROFLOL: Sorry Primetime52,but that first sentence was the understatement of the year! Dinosaur was actually a very big theatrical release that was hyped and promoted quite a bit back in 2000(i think). It's blend of CGI and actual nature footage was breathtaking and cutting edge at the time. The story is actually pretty good too, I highly recommend you crawl out from under your rock and check it out!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.:D

Just found the answer to my own question! Thanks Wikipedia.

The Countdown to Extinction attraction at the Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park was re-named and re-themed to the movie, and is now known as Dinosaur. The storyline was always intended to tie in with the movie, considering the usage of a Carnotaur as the ride's antagonist and Aladar is the iguanadon that guests rescued from the meteor shower and take him back into the present, seen wandering the Dino Institute in Security Camera footage seen on monitors in the attraction's unloading area.

Well, Dinosaur is another one that we can add to the list of rides that became movies. I had always wondered why they changed the attraction name.
I always thought Dinosaur was an original attraction that was built specifically for the movie? Was there a different attraction there before Dinosaur?

 Sorry sbkline but we're gonna have to agree to disagree on that one. Granted, I only rode Pirates once before the refurb but I love the Pirates refurb and would actually love to see more additions from the last two movies(i.e. Davy Jones, Will and Elizabeth, maybe even Kraken tentacles coming up out of the water around the ride vehicle at some point). I would also love to see the Wicked Wench changed to the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman added right across from it so they could be firing their cannons at each other.

This got me thinkin'...has there ever been a movie made about the life of Walt Disney? Not a documentary type film but an actual scripted movie?

Thanks for the reminder about how wayyyy off I was in every reply I made to this thread! Perhaps I will crawl out from under my rock and rent Dinosaur. You have to at least give me credit for bringing up Dinosaur before anyone else! haha.

For the time being I will keep quiet and make no more comments on this thread to avoid further embarrassment.:veryconfu

As for the Dinosaur ride vs movie issue, the ride was definitely there first, and it was called "Countdown To Extinction." When the movie Dinosaur came out, they made slight modifications to the ride (and changed the name) in order to closely match it with the film.

I know, I didn't figure I'd find many people who would agree with me on that one.

I guess for a 31 year old man, I'm too set in my ways and cling too much to the old ways. I don't like to see big changes. So I guess in that sense, you could label me as a Disney purist.

I'm sure if this had been my first trip to WDW, I would have liked the ride just fine. But my wife and I went to Florida on our honeymoon and visited the Disney parks and we did the same thing the following year. So, as sappy as it sounds, I guess I have kind of a sentimental attachment to the way things were on our previous trips and I just hate to see them get changed.

Now, before I get too wrapped up in this sentimental, sensitivity thing, I'd better get off here and go shoot something, or work on a car, or do something else to reaffirm my masculinity! :ROFLOL: :hammer:

I have an idea for one based off of BTMR
The railroad used to be very successful many years ago. It was a place where people could take an enjoying train ride through Big Thunder Mountain and even meet up with spirits. However, the spirits had buried treasure deep inside of the mountain and when the humans accidently found out, everybody wants to find it first. Then, a huge mining company bought out the railroad and turned it into a mining site (so that they could try to secretly find the treasure). This angered the spirits, so they took over the Big Thunder Mountain and the railroad that runs through it.
In the present day, a young man and his friends stumble across the mountain on a hiking trip. They find a man living in a cave that was carved into the mountain who tells them of BTMR past. In the meantime, a big shot oil company president is trying to find the mountain. He thinks that if he find the mountain, he will be able to be the richest man in the world. Eventually, he finds the mountain and it all comes down to a major battle between the oil company and the spirits, with the aid of the young man and his friends.

I think they should continue with the pirates movies because I can't get enough of them, but stop while they're ahead.
Country Bears was horrible along with The Haunted Mansion.
Just keep making movies and make more rides to follow!

I've got a couple of ideas..
A comedy based on Test Track?
A action film based on Mission Space?
A action film based on Everest/Matterhorn?
A comedy based on Submarine Voyage?
A film called Pirates of the Caribbean: Fountain of Youth?
:animwink:

I second the vote for NONE!

But not because they went back and tinkered with the POTC ride. Attractions just work better when they are based on movies (Peter Pan, Dumbo, Swiss Family Tree House, etc...) and not vice versa. The parks should be for Disney movies and characters to "come to life" so we can experience them in a new way.

I love the Pirate's movies because they are fun and have great characters, but my love of the ride never enhanced my movie-going experience. Why? Because, for all intensive purposes (save a few vague references that only Disney die-hards would recognize) the movies had nothing to do with the ride. You could take out one or two "inside jokes" and change the name, and it would remain the same movie.

Movies that tried to follow the rides more closely (Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror)....Yikes! Just awful. And we all know about the affront to Walt that was the Country Bears....

If they could make a great movie that could not exist in the absence of the ride, then I would be all for it, but I have not seen anything even close yet. I hope they stop while they are ahead and don't do "Generic Run-Away Train Western" or "Jungle Boat Adventure with Smart Aleck Captain".

20,000 Leagues under the Sea.

So they cancelled the ride at WDW

It is a classic story by one of the all time best writers and would look great as a modern rewrite.

I have no been to Paris Disneyland in years but they used to have a sub you can walk through and if they do I still be a current attraction.

With a good script, modern CGI, and a huge modern budget 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea could be the next Pirates.
