What is your opinion on how to do Breakfast at WDW?

Hi there,

So how do you do breakfast? Assume you are on the dining plan - regular with 1 QS, 1 TS and a snack.

Do you pay out of pocket, grab a piece of fruit, eat at the resort, just eat in your room?

In the past, assuming we have no breakfast ADR's, we usually grab coffee and then eat lunch at 11 a.m. This helps crowds as well as keeping to dining plan. However, my DH, who is amazing in so many ways, is a pain when it comes to breakfast. He won't eat, gets grouchy, refuses to do anything to lunch, and then is a real crank.

So....I need a new system. He likes, but can't always get him to eat, the Kind bars. I was going to pack some of those and have them with coffee and maybe grab fruit and coffee or a bagel at the resort or in the parks. Something fast and simple.

For when we don't eat at the resort or have an adr, I carry ziplock bags with individual servings of cereal and buy milk at the resort to add to it. You can use your mug or save one of your drink cups as a "bowl". If we are doing early hours, we use a disposable cup to eat from and eat while walking to the bus or car. We then simply throw out the cup.

The first time we used the dining plan, my family utilized the snack as breakfast and the other two meals for lunch and dinner. Of course, most of the time my family (not due to my lack of trying) wouldn't roll out of the bed until 10 or 11 AM to get ready so they weren't really waiting that long.
On my last trip we didn't use the dining plan (BAD IDEA!) and just bought cereal, milk, pop tarts, etc. before heading to the resort. Maybe a good way to go would be a combination of packing your own snacks + using your snack credits for breakfast.
Hope this helps!:p

We utilize a grocery service and pick out some breakfast-y items, bottled water and snack foods to have in the room. That helps us grab something in the morning before we hit the parks so we're not drama mamas by lunch. We get realllllll ugly if we havent eaten in a few hours.

We've done many times where, since the quick services are usually a lot of food, had one or 2 people get a QS breakfast and later on the trip we'd split QS lunches so the credits balanced out.
With my toddler now we got good at snagging quick things form buffets we went to- fruit, pastries, etc and just hold on to one or 2 things and let him nibble that day or save it for tomorrow. I rarely am hungry for bfast at wdw, but the kiddo gotta eat.

Ive got our dining mapped out for dec. A few days for breakfast we're using our snack credit for Starring Roles and Sleepy Hollow since we have big meals later. We also have a couple character breakfasts and then one day a QS at our resort. So a little bit of everything. Whatever fit that day.

For this trip, we went to Sam's Club and bought three boxes of assorted muffins and pastries, whereas in the past, we ate QS or character breakfasts every morning. We found that we enjoyed the extra sleep and were also actually hungry for an earlier lunch, which helped beat the crowds.

The breakfast buffet was kind of a flop for us this trip. So, we'll stick to the light breakfast in the room for future trips.

We will have a DDP for the first time in December and will be mixing it up :)
We're staying at SSR so we will have kitchen facilities. Some days, we'll have a light breakfast in our suite before we leave (toast or cereal) and save our credits for the rest of the day but we have got a couple of character breakfasts booked, so we will then use a snack credit for something light at lunch, then use or QS credit for dinner.

Last year when we were on the dining plan most of our adr's were for breakfast that way we would fill up for the day use a snack credit for lunch then use counter service credit for our evening meal. But different strokes for different folks. :-D

We eat 2-3 sit down breakfast at WDW, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe and maybe a character breakfast or Whipering Canyon. I pay for those out of pocket. Other morning we use snack credits if on the DDP or pay out of pocket. I get up early tour around the resort while DW and DS sleep a little longer. I then read the paper and have coffee and pastry. My DW will call me when they are getting ready for the day and I will get take their order and bring them a roll, bagel or muffin and a coffee or juice.

We are a family of 3, so...

If we are going to be at park opening somewhere, we use 3 snack credits to get the 2 largest patries we can find and a large drink and split them all three ways.

If we are eating in our room, we get whatever the largest breakfast platter they serve at the resort QS and split that 3 ways while using our mugs for drinks.

And, of course, every few days we have a breakfast TS to really load up on breakfast goodies!

As a family of 3, we can easily use 2 CS for lunch that we split, so using 1 for breakfast works out great. We also usually bring some packs of mini-muffins (Entenmanns) and some Pop-tarts for those mornings that nobody wants to go out and pick anything up!!

It depends on the time of year. Is the Food & Wine Festival going on? It usually is when we visit. If so, sleep in, skip breakfast, brunch at the Festival Marketplace. Otherwise we do schedule a couple table service breakfasts, but would mostly just grab some fruit from the resort's quick service. I would never do a dining plan so I can't comment on that portion if it. I'm sure breakfast would not be a good use of credits for most, though.

Hey!:)

We aren't big breakfast eaters, but we usually have 1 ADR sit down breakfast. Typically it's Kona, CP, or CRT. The rest of the week we grab something quick, and eat a bigger lunch later in the day. I've never done the dining plan, but I imagine this is still how we'd do things. I'd use my TS for lunch or dinner most days.

I pack breakfast foods (muffins I make at home, Pop Tarts, cereal) and bring them with us. When we fly, I pack a suitcase with food then bring it back filled with souvenirs. I've recently seen those little organic milks in the grocery store and I plan to bring those with me for DD and DH each day. They don't need to be stored in the fridge so I'll chill one overnight in an ice bucket if the room fridges aren't replaced in time for our October visit. I'm diabetic so if I don't eat, my sugar low will give cranky a whole new meaning by mid-morning. I acknowledge this unpleasant side effect and eat to keep from subjecting my family to it! ;)
