What is your opinion on how to do Breakfast at WDW?

I could write a book. I love breakfast and especially love breakfast in restaurants. Plus, I made many, many trips to Disney. I've done it all ways at WDW.

A quick granola bar and a bottle of water in the car is great if you've slept late and are in a hurry. Bowls of cereal and/or granola, fruit, muffins or whatever in the room are a fine "eat and be done with it!" quick breakfast, especially if some eat while others are showering.

Room service is wonderful. You get what you want at the time you scheduled it. It's usually good food. Yay. On the pricey side, though!

Restaurants! I've done them first thing and later in the morning. I prefer later in the morning, as you can take advantage of rope drop. Occasionally, when the characters are slow getting around, you won't see them all and make rope drop. I don't like the last seating at buffets because once in a while, they don't replenish. No seconds.

Not a huge fan of food court breakfasts because they aren't that good and are time-suckers. You still have to go there, wait in line, pay and leave...even if you eat quickly.

There is always McDonald's, which is especially convenient if you're staying near it. Egg mcmuffins are cheap, filling and easy to eat in the car. :)

My least favorite option is eating in a hotel that isn't your own. It just takes too much time to drive over there, get seated, eat, pay and drive to the park. I don't recommend it, generally. But I have scheduled a late Chef Mickey for a morning where we slept in (a little bit) after seeing fireworks. I liked to combine that with my afternoon of seeing the MK 3:00 parade, as we were generally not in parks at 3:00.

My all-time favorite breakfast was at Tusker House, before they made it a character meal. But that is a thing of the past, sadly.

My favorites now are RFC for the cranberry waffle and Crystal Palace for that "so good it makes the cost of the thing worth it" Puffed French Toast. I like the OJ there, too. :)

Breakfast, I'm very flexible so I can eat anything really. So how to do breakfast in WDW varies from person to person. Some people like a big breakfast, average lunch and light dinner while others have a different order in terms of what relative meal size people eat! I guess what I'd say is know how much you need to eat for breakfast in general, what you're willing to eat and how much you're willing to pay for it. If you don't need that much food, then buffets will probably not be your best choice so I'd save the TS credits for something else. So I'd stick with using QS combos or just buy something light like pastries or cereal if the snack option is available or if you're willing to pay out of pocket either before or during your trip. For me, I don't really a need buffet for breakfast. I'm fine with a combo platter of waffles and sausage, a bagel and cream cheese, even a pastry or just about anything really. I just know I need something for breakfast if I'm spending a long day i the parks.

We order breakfast bars, sports bars, and/or small bags of nuts and fresh apples and cheese sticks from Garden Grocer and have delivered. We grab and go. Coffee is on the run, paid out of pocket or made in-room. Mornings are for hitting the parks hard. We typically have a Quick Service lunch when and where we feel like and an ADR-reserved Table Service for dinner.

With Fastpass+ our habits may change. If we can guarantee fastpasses at evening hours, we might take it slower. For now, standard practice is for us to start out at a high pace and slow down, with slower food later as well.

Hi there,

So how do you do breakfast? Assume you are on the dining plan - regular with 1 QS, 1 TS and a snack.

Do you pay out of pocket, grab a piece of fruit, eat at the resort, just eat in your room?

In the past, assuming we have no breakfast ADR's, we usually grab coffee and then eat lunch at 11 a.m. This helps crowds as well as keeping to dining plan. However, my DH, who is amazing in so many ways, is a pain when it comes to breakfast. He won't eat, gets grouchy, refuses to do anything to lunch, and then is a real crank.

So....I need a new system. He likes, but can't always get him to eat, the Kind bars. I was going to pack some of those and have them with coffee and maybe grab fruit and coffee or a bagel at the resort or in the parks. Something fast and simple.

How do you do breakfast?

We usually try to do two breakfast ADRs per six day trip. On the other days we get Kid's Meal Breakfasts a the monorail resorts food courts; CR, Polynesian and GF. It's only a few dollars and each has its own personality. Break up the monotony and gives us a different start each morning.

9 times out of 10 we pay out of pocket in the food court for breakfast or else eat baggies of cereal that I packed in the room. We do this very early because we ALWAYS make rope drop. On the last day of our trip, we sometimes book an early TS breakfast before hitting the parks if we have an extra credit.

Is there much of a fee to have that delivered? Do you need to be there for delivery or can it be dropped off and left with bell services and taken to your room? Thanks!

Fun tip! That's a great idea! Do you need to be a kid to get a kids meal? Or I should ask - or at least have them with you? We don't have any kids.

It's like $12 to deliver, you can do it well in advance of your arrival, scheduling the delivery on your arrival day. Bell services will receive and deliver your order. Sometimes it just shows up in your room, other times they call and say they are delivering. Either way, I leave them a tip and help them shelp in my 3 cases of water.

Totally worth it! Considering to check a bag is $25 bucks so even if I stock the suitcase full, its cheaper to get the grocerys delivered and then I can get some perishable food too. Which I will need for the race. Thanks!

We don't have any kids either and it's never been a problem. It's more than enough food to get started and if you're on the dining plan it saves the QS Meal for lunch or dinner, which is a better value.

We have always done the standard dining plan, so breakfast is something that we need to plan for as well. We attack it a couple different ways. Most days breakfast consists of breakfast items we bring with ussuch as granola bars, cereal, trail mix, etc.. I tend to not use some of my snack credits during the day/ eve so i often will get a mufin or fruit the night before and have that for breakfast. We also schedule brunch type meals such as a 10:30am at Tusker House. It is a buffet and when I start it is all breakfast and when i end they are starting to offer lunch food. I am often full until dinner time or may get a snack using a credit or OOP to tide me over. I snack, but I don't think I'm ever really that hungry at WDW. It's pretty much a mecca over overindulgence.

We are going in Sept, without the dining plan. My plan is to bring a pack of english muffins and bagels in our suitcases to save money but also we aren't HUGE breakfast eaters so it saves money/time and I have had the gastric bypass so I only eat a few bites and are full anyway, so why waste all the money on a big breakfast... hopefully this works, fingers crossed!

We always bought boxes of donuts (the chocolate covered ones) and the cheapo pecan rolls, strawberries and poptarts and everyone would grab something while we took turns using the bathroom to get ready. That way we could get a lot done in the park in the morning and then when it was getting hot in the afternoon enjoy lunch indoors some where in the AC.

Depends on who I am with, if its the big family trip, just coffee and breakfast in the Roaring Fork café with dad while everyone else wakes up and gets ready. Otherwise, like @HouCuseChickie said, we like to do a TS for breakfast, more of a snack for lunch and then a TS for dinner. However, on HS days, we tend to skip the TS breakfast and hit up Starring Rolls.

Normally we do ADR early morning breakfast but this year we are doing less breakfast and more dinner. We always use as many of our dining plan at the beginning of the vacation so not to have too many left at the end. I do order from Garden Grocer because we fly, it works better for us. I normally do have granola bars, cereal bars and other snacks in room. I NEED BREAKFAST too, otherwise I am NO FUN!

Garden Grocer has 15 slots open per day. $14 delivery fee and minimum of $40 order. It is worth it! Check them out online. They delivery to bell services. Plus they refrigerate anything that is needed.

Since we are discussing food, how does room service for breakfast work exactly? We will be staying in the Poly in Oct. I have never ordered AM service. I have read that you can fill out a card and have it delivered..do you specify a time or what? Thanks!

We usually don't eat breakfast while at WDW. We might have a breakfast table service here or there but most of the time it's a quick granola bar and we're on the way to the parks. We usually have lunch early around 11 or so.
