We CM's get things like this happening to us all too frequently... and 99% of the time, it's over some stupid inconsequential thing. *sigh*

Tyler, I know you drive monorails and buses and I was thinking if your in the monorail with a guest sitting up front and they attack you or something, or hijack the monorail what would you do? Do you have a fail safe button or something you would push? Just thought I'd throw tha tout there.

Well, as for the Monorail... only four guests are allowed up front... and there is no connection from the cars to the cab... so that kind of limits it. I can't imagine someone hijacking the Monorail... they really wouldn't get too far. And as soon as the train pulled into the station, OCSD would be there to haul them away.

As for the bus... *shrug*

Well I can exclusively reveal that British Intelligence ( office hours 8 till 5 Mon-Fri) have uncovered a plot to drive, at speed, a stolen bus packed with unsold turkey legs into bay lake, the reulting tidal wave would flood the parks causing disruption and there would be an ecological disaster from the oil seeping from the turkey legs.

Not to mention the infestation of thousands of seaguls that would flock (ha ha) to the area to feed off the turkey legs. This would result in a constant "rain" of droppings that would reduce attendance at the parks. :hurl:

But if they stopped it dead on the tracks it would hold everything up and cause great commotion. What would you do?

the place is full of morons

Hello! One of the "morons" here! Or did you think there weren't any around? Since the three of you seem so angry with all of us, and since I know it isn't the first time Westie has complained about us, I'd like to listen to some of your reasons. Or, in other words, what's wrong with YOU?
See, there are a lot of morons down here. Many of them actually go to WDW and behave like morons there as well. But I'm willing to bet the 3 of you couldn't spot a Brazilian in the park unless he had a shirt saying he was from Brazil. I'm saying this simply because fellow CMs used to call me to deal with every latino Guest they found, and pretty much any Guest whose language they didn't understand. Since they don't know Portuguese, but many know it is somewhat similar to Spanish, they figured I could help. But as Rob has said in this same thread, most problems seem to come from American guests. I agree, I was a CM once. They're Americans, they feel they own the place, and many ACT like they don't understand instructions given to them, while many Brazilians CAN'T understand the same instructions.
So don't be shy, let's hear what you have to say. Since it was easy to resort to generalization, prejudice and name-calling, I suppose it'd be easier for your superior minds to come up with reasons for your prejudice.

Hi Rodrigo,

I just wanted to say that I agree with you on generalizations. I've gotten... ummmm upset :brick: with some people on here who constantly generalize. I'm sure I do it sometimes, but I try not to. Just wanted to throw that in.

I do want to say though that I get frustrated with some of those tour groups. In general I don't mind tour groups unless they start chanting in lines for the rides. It's just annoying to me and I noticed that many of those groups were from Brazil. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make a blanket statement, nor am I trying to defend anyone who has. Having said that, I haven't seen any tour groups acting like that in my last few trips. Furthermore, I'd put the blame on the tour companies and not the people on the tour since it was usually the tourguide that I saw starting it. I'm sure the companies tell the guides to do it to keep the people upbeat and have a good time, but I have yet to find anyone outside of the tours that didn't find it a little annoying. Finally, you're right, many people that are real idiots are people from the US that think they own the place. They don't follow the rules that the rest of us do out of habit and respect.

In short, these bad examples have provided people with a bad stereotype. The tourgroups have done that for Brazillians in many people's opinion (even though not all of those loud tourgroups are from Brazil) and the people from the US have given others in the world the stereotype of the rude American. Both of those bad examples are a minority and make it harder on the rest of us.

Hey, Sam. Don't worry about it, I know what you mean. Usually, I don't give much thought about comments like these, but these here were harsh, and it's not westie's first time.

As for the groups, it's actually both the Guests and the tour companies fault. As I've explained it before, in the good ole days when economy wasn't so bad, families would send their 15 and 16 year old kids to Disney, instead of throwing a big party. Sometimes, whole families have to chip in for that one (and usually only) trip. So they were, in their majority, kids without parent supervision. And, like any other kid from any other country, they go WILD. Are they to blame? Definately. They're on a foreign country and they don't understand the language, so they should behave, if much to give a good impression of their country and their people. But it's also the companies fault. To get more money, they don't hire as many guides as they should, and 2/3 of those guys are not prepared enough for the job. The result is the mess you all have witnessed many times.

OK I'll answer first and this time w/o the pun. See picture to the left. Me and my family...

Example 1: WDW 1997. My Honeymoon. Roving groups of Brazilian males would cut lines by jumping the turnstyles as close to the ride entrance as possible. The would mock CM's and guest alike with the "me no speakee." When finally they bumped the wrong persons wife. Push came to shove and stars and srtipes won.

Example 2: DL 2001. I realize Brazilians travel by the masses. They go to amusement parks in droves. AND THEY CUT LINES LIKE NOBODY CARES! This time it was my daughter who was pushed aside and almost trampled. This time I got in trouble because I spoke English and they were the poor, innocent tourist.

Basically, we did the BM joke about a year ago. AND IT WAS A JOKE. Where were you then? Many, many members have shared stories much like mine. I appologize if it landed on you. Let it go. You'll feel better.

Apologies accepted. I really don't like to create arguments around here, I treat WDWMagic as my cyber-family, but I've seen your comments, noticed they went FAR back, and never once got the hint you were joking. I believe I reacted the same way an Italian or Italo-american would have reacted if the pun was about the Italian mob. I'm sorry for your experiences, and as I've said before, I do not approve of their actions. As a CM, I used to hide from Brazilians as well. All I wanted to make clear is that NOT ALL Brazilians act dumb. Some really are just having fun, not like the guys that got that deserved beating.

Hope there's no hard feelings. But as you can witness in this thread, your joke can create rude comments, like the one from Travis.
