What is the plan for Innoventions East and West?

Something gives me the feeing you know absolutely nothing about what's going to actually happen or what scale the budget actually is... Especially considering that (if I recall correctly) @marni1971 said its budget would dwarf DCA's renovation ($200 million of which was solely for the Cars ride), so yea...
DCA's renovation was a heck of a lot more than 200million............try 1.1Billion (actually was more if I recall when all was said and done)

The festivals are the only thing keeping it going. They're considered unsustainable.
Attendence is down
Guest satisfaction is low

Interesting, because the word I get is that TDO believes -- and has sold Chappie on the idea -- that EPCOT is fine with a few small additions and some cosmetic fixes.

Hence, the latest food festival in winter now.

I know plans exist for all sorts of dramatic stuff ... but I would be very, very, very cautious jumping on the 'this is what is going to happen bandwagon' unless you have proof positive, my friend.

Absolutely. You know I don't do bandwagons.

That's also why I'm prefacing everything with "IF plans come through". It's looking like RoL could be a prime example of not counting chickens before they're hatched.

Kind of fascinating to imagine there might be a push and pull between both modes of thought without corporate and/or Imagineering, isn't it?

When you boil it down, EPCOT really could be...well, no, not "just fine", but it would go a long way toward bettering the perception of the park if it got the type of love that Tomorrowland is currently getting - aesthetic fixes, making dated or broken effects work or more visible to the public, things of that nature. Get something interesting into CommuniCore/Innoventions and you're likely on to something. The skeleton for a fantastic park, arguably the best in the world, is already in place, so even such minor fixes could really rehabilitate a lot about what's wrong in the park. There are expansion pads and preexisting show buildings that could fit some decent C or D ticket level attractions in them, and at least in the case of World Showcase those would certainly go a long way, too.

Yet I can't imagine that anybody at corporate or Imagineering is looking at Future World and thinking "No, this is fine, this is completely sustainable". Spaceship Earth, Test Track, and The Land are in pretty decent shape (to varying degrees), while the rest is screaming for work to be done. It baffles me how Imagination consistently seems to be at the bottom of the pile on their "EPCOT To-Do List", given that, as I said before, a sound rehab of that pavilion into something that better resembles the 1982 version (with newer effects or script or what have you) would probably be the best PR move they could make to tell people "It's safe to enjoy EPCOT again". I know, the cost is likely enormous, but man, this is Disney of 2016 we're talking about, not a mom and pop operation, which it, comparatively speaking, was back in the early 80s. You can't keep going on with Imagination, the Seas, Universe of Energy, and Mission: Space always having 5-10 minute lines not out of queue efficiency but out of lack of interest.

Ugh, I'm just torn. I want these things to be fixed, I want a park worthy of the EPCOT Center mantle (even if it won't truly be like EPCOT Center again), but I also have a lack of faith in what will be produced. So frustrating.

I'll eat my hat if Disney ever builds another Wedway.

I'd be prepared to lose the one in Tommorowland :-o and trade it in for one in Future World PLUS relocating the Carousel of Progress alongside it if that allowed TL to be completely re-imagined.
Unfortunately, it isn't a likely scenario :-( to play out.

Time will tell I guess.. but there's a reason I don't sound to optimistic at this... lets see if the plans survive past the opening of the revised "Star Wars" theme park, because bulk construction (if any) isn't going to take place till then.

I try to remain optimistic. With the announcement of what they're doing with Hong Kong (castle replacement, Frozen Land, Marvel Land), I'm hoping they'll start winding down focus on international parks soon and start refocusing on the domestic ones.

Geez, with all the money they just committed to HK Disneyland for the next several years... one would think that Bob's "big dreams" for Epcot should be able to get a little funding love as well.

Half of that money commited to Hong Kong comes from the government there. That project is partially due to the government there being jealous of Shanghai and pressuring Disney. Also, Hong Kong Disneyland is not successful right now and needs a major boost to become profitable again. Epcot has issues, but it's still very successful (Even if festivals are a part of that success)
